Rudoni is a really good player in form, but out of form and maybe still carrying a knock looks like the player Huddersfield fans were uncertain about. And until FL came to us we all were, he may need a reset a sit down talk with the coaches or a sit on the bench to heel up and watch the game from the outside.

His workrate is high but is output is low, that needs to change. FL needs to find out how to do it.

Really can’t see that Rudoni is the issue. He was poor last night but was not alone in that. For me the big drop off has been Torp who just can’t get around the pitch. Maybe just needs a rest and Eccles to come in for a few games

Disagree about Rudoni not being the issue. I think he is the major source of it.

Not just last night but since he's come back in the free flowing attacking football has gone. Rudoni doesn't move forward with the ball like BTA to put the defence under pressure. But when he does receive the ball he's taking an extra touch or two to move the ball on, allowing the opposition more time to get into shape.

As has been mentioned it's like we're actively trying to play everything through him so teams can plan against that. Plus he's drifting wide getting in the way of the wide players/overlaps while reducing our options in the centre, and is also contributing to him not being in and around the area to get on the end of crosses/knockdowns like last season.

I can only imagine he's doing this under instruction (as if he were just ignoring FL tactics he would be out of the team) but I don't understand WHY these would be his instructions? We saw what was happening playing the way we were earlier in the season, Rudoni is a better footballer than BTA, so why have we changed what was working?

However, I agree about Torp and I wonder about dropping Rudoni into the 8 and Eccles into the 10 next game. They would be interchangeable if we wanted to try it the other way round too.

Eccles is more than capable at this level so I don't get why we wouldn't be rotating players in the midfield more to allow them more recuperation, especially with the illness in the squad that Torp has clearly been affected by.

Didn’t feel half as annoyed as some leaving the game last night from the reaction on here, yes we weren’t great and yes Lampard could have and should have made changes earlier.

However the bigger picture is if you were offered our position now at the start of the season you would have snapped their hand off.

Ipswich are a very good team, with fantastic depth but will drop points against teams as the first half of the season has shown.

10 point gap still on them and two tough but very winnable games coming up, keep the faith, #PUSB

Totally agree, he needs to stay central. What I don't get is why FL hasn't told him yet to stop going wide or taking an extra touch slowing us down. It happens every game, we see it so why doesnt FL?

Since Rudoni has come back and BTA been injured the free flowing overlapping football has finishes,we seem to be over working the ball to get it to Rudoni. When we eventually get a cross in it never hits a target man as its 5/6 players against Wright/Simms who can't head a football.

Not sure about that re Simms, how many headed goals did he get recently?

I can't see Ipswich finishing only one point ahead of Hull, nor (sadly) 17 points behind us. The latter requires us to extend our lead over them by 7 points during the rest of the season.

If I'd been offered our current position at the start of the season, I wouldn't just have snapped their hand off, I'd have eaten them whole. Just in case anyone's forgotten, we're top of the league with broad daylight to the chasing pack. Happy New Year!

Keeping up with the positivity.....

Just look at the table!!

This is after the flu, injuries and tiredness. We are still in a fantastic position.

All we need is a bit of quality added to the squad. More bodies and a bit more quality and we will be absolutely fine.

It doesn't look good at the moment, but we have been very unlucky with penalty decisions and have fallen just short a number of times. Only Ipswich have looked the better team.

Do some good business in this window and we will get back to winning ways and unbeaten runs again, I'm certain of it

Lets hope Torp, BTA and KKH all possibly back for Leicester. That would be like a couple of new signings, especially with BTA as we seem to gave dipped since his injury

I'd say that penalties sendings even out over the season and we've benefited to something like like a balanced scenario at present,so probably from here on in we're good to go!

To be positive we do still have a good lead at the top, one we'd have snapped your hand off for before the start of the season.

I'll also try and be positive over the squad situation. Most of us felt the squad was too small after the summer and we're seeing the effects of that now...

BUT...

we can also say that the small squad King wanted has got us to the position we're in. Who knows if we'd brought in those extra bodies in the summer we' d have done as well? Players take time to gel and there's no guarantee of their success.

But we can also see we've reached that tipping point of player fatigue and at arguably the best time - we can see the places where we need extra bodies or a bit more quality and we have an open transfer window where we can make those additions to rectify the problems. Of course it relies on the club doing it and there is the uncertainty of new signings but it feels like we have some control over our own fate at this stage.

We're in this bad run of form now but I reckon one more decent run of 5-6 games anytime between now and the end of the season SHOULD see us over the line. I remain hopeful we can manage that at some point.

QPR, whom we play at the end of the month will be without their leading scorer Burrell ( hammy today!) plus 2 others went off crocked ( including Varane). Good for us, so I'm taking that as a positive.

If you mean Kone, he assisted for one goal (no idea about his overall form) The Burrell lad who has done his hamstring seems the main goalscoring threat recently.

The league is slightly unbalanced with teams either having 9 home 11 away left or vice versa.

I'm pleased we are in the latter category with 11 homes and 9 aways.

We'll have an even picture after the Leicester/Milwall double header with teams having 9 and 9 left (ignoring rearranged games in hand)

Yup

We ARE still top of the league. And this is 6 weeks on from your "On a positive note" thread. 6 weeks later and still top.

Anyway, keeping things positive, if we do end up in the play-offs, Markelo will be fit enough to score the winning goal in the play-off final at Wembley.

Unfortunately from my list:

- Thomas is off form
- JDS is off form
- BTA got suspended for 3 games
- Jan window we missed opportunity to get players who could really make an impact

Yes remarkably we’re still top but we’ve completely lost our points advantage.

Yeah, but surely we would never expect to still be top, 6 weeks on, considering the form we have been in.

It was our points advantage that’s kept us top. But the advantage has gone now and this is where the real battle is now. We’re all feeling deflated because we aren’t getting any real answers to our issues over the last few months. Something has to change within this group including Frank and the players if they really want this.

It’s been a strange season so far. I certainly felt that we’d overachieved up to our 50 pts. Then we drop off big time. All the scenarios about us sitting on xpts gap between us and others have been played out.
I haven’t looked at the current form tables but I’m guessing we’re bottom 25% over the last 10 games.

Could it be we’ll lose 1/3 of our squad if we don’t go up? In which case of a rebuild which will take up to 3 years.
I definitely want us to go up and we’ll be in for a torrid time.

Maybe if we drop to 2nd, all the pressure will go onto Boro and we can get the fight back into us. As long as we finish 1 point ahead of 3rd, we go up. Easy really init?
