He’s been injured a lot and may even struggle to get in our match squad. I saw it and decided it was not viable. League 1 top 6?. id be happer with a third choice midfielder from the big clubs If it has to be a loan.

His entire PL career has consisted of a total of 35 mins twice as a sub .

No thanks, I wouldn't bring any player on their first loan spell in January. They are rarely ready and take too long to adjust, you just don't get the benefits from them.

If he's available on loan and we don't have to pump too much into wages then its a no brainer despite what is being said on here. More for the fact it'll put us in a good position to get him back next season too where he'll be further along in his development.

Teams rarely send their loan players back to the same team, regardless of the Lampard connection.

Yeah he played 90 mins against Hibs in the second leg of the Europa Conference league qualifying but that's only because they won the first leg 5-0.

Plus

1 app total of 12 mins league cup
2 pps total of 35 mins in PL
2 apps total of 11 mins in Europa Conference league

Could be Geal Bigirama to Newcastle standard then!

Yes, but although perhaps he was a disappointment for us - his experience with us may have been a learning curve and helped kick his career on. Despite the disappoinment with us there were signs he had ability and a player of quality was there.

i have been very consistent in that I never saw those signs and I suspect neither did MR.

In my view, one of the worst players I have seen in our kit in over 60 years. And that includes Roy O'Donovan. Must try to erase those memories

….can we resurrect this thread, or do people believe Kellyman is a non starter as an attacking midfielder?

Is there any point in getting a loan now at this point in the season given where we are? I can’t remember how much you get per finishing place but not sure there is enough difference between finishing say 18th or 12th to make it worth the gamble of paying for a loan.

There is a point if it means we don't have to watch backwards pasding for 90 mins for the rest of the season

I mean there comes a point where it’s worth trying to make us better just to stop us haemorrhaging season ticket sales in the summer.

ten points off with half a season to go isn’t the point we give up, improbable? yes….impossible? no…

would you rather chuck in the towel half way through, or throw everything at it and show we have some ambition?

If we are going for it then we shouldn't sign anyone for their first loan spell. It takes them too long to adapt, fine if it's a whole season loan but not for a January lone.

I’m sure for every bad first loan spell there will be at least one great one, you have to roll the dice sometimes….

All it takes is one really good run and we’re back in the mix. By end of Jan, you’d hope EMC and Wright are back to full fitness.

That changes our attacking game by leaps and bounds.

Yeah fair, I hear you. As long as it doesn’t take away a loan / budget from next season by using one this season when it’s pretty much done.

I don’t think I’d comprehended that we were only 10 points off play offs but tbh the way we’re playing, it’s kind of irrelevant anyway.

Yes at the moment it isn’t too hard to imagine a big drop off in ST sales.

He has still made appearances 16 out of 19 games for Brighton who are 10th in the Premier League.

He really isn't the worst player to wear out kit in 60 years.

Luke McNally did well. BNC and Torp were pretty effective too.

Exactly they all had previous experience, we weren't their first proper taste of first term football / first loan.

McNally had already played around 60 first team games across 4 clubs, BNC had made nearly 40 appearances at Lincoln and Rotherham, and Torp around 80 first team appearances before joining us. They could hit the ground running, not trying to learn and adapt to men's football from scratch.

It's fine for a whole season loan, as you can give them 15-20 games to adjust, but any January loan with needs to hit the ground running. If they don't come in until deadline day we'll only have 17 league games left.

Torp joined permanently and was never on loan.

Hasn’t been effective either.

Didn’t we spend all of last season saying Torp wasn’t fit and we’d have to wait for this year?

Yes he joined permanently you’re right. He looked the real deal and we expected more from him in the full season.
