Wilson will move on to be a backup in the Championship or L1 starter . The success of the team this year plus some of his past achievements should secure him that at least and he will deserve it .
Imagine he will stick around till the summer and gives Dovin the chance to ease back gradually. If Rushworth were to get recalled we are in the shit though .

Wilson will become a coach eventually. You can see it in unseen how vocal he is and appears to run some of the drills

I don't think it was deliberate, but it was certainly a clumsy challenge with his knee jutting out to catch Dovin.

I'm not so sure. Not seen much to suggest he's desperate to be a regular starter. Seems pretty settled in the area and happy enough being a backup. Not sure there's a huge difference between being second choice and third choice.

Club seem happy to have him around and he can't be on a huge wage in EFL terms let alone PL terms.

Suspect it will be his decision. If he wants to go to get game time club won't stand in his way but if he's happy to stick around as 3rd choice they'll be fine with that as well. Dovin & Rushworth are 23 & 24, while Wilson isn't exactly a veteran its not a bad idea to have someone older in the group.

“It’s difficult” – Player on lack of assurance from Coventry City

Oliver Dovin says he hasn’t received assurance from Coventry City over his role at the club. The goalkeeper joined Coventry City in July 2024. He made 30 appearances in his debut season, which was cut short in March after he suffered a serious injury. He’s been on the sidelines since then. The...

They've taken a leap there. Made it sound like he's pissed off when the actual quote from him is exactly what you'd expect.

“It is too early for me, and a lot can happen in these six months that are left. Whatever would be said or said now may be completely different in five months when it matters.

“It is not something I think about. I am just focusing on getting back, because that is the only way I can show what I am about.”

“Given the whole situation, we have a good goalkeeper on loan, we have me who is injured, we have a team that is doing well, and we don’t know what league we will play in next season, there are too many variables for a club to be able to be clear about what will happen. We will see at the end of the season,”

Sounds like he's a sensible lad being interviewed by someone who is trying to create a story that doesn't exist.

He seems like a genuinely positive influence on the group, doesn’t he?

My mates and I joke that he’s there for magic tricks but in reality, you just don’t need a 3rd choice GK who’s going to be that competitive with your starter and backup. In a sense, they’re there for the dressing room.

He’s being level headed about everything and that’s despite being dealt a bad hand. He gets a season ending injury that may turn to two just as he was establishing himself as a top GK in the division. We missed him badly and meant signing another GK was a non-negotiable this summer.

Dovin has got what it takes to be a Prem goalkeeper if he returns and keeps fit.

Wilson isn't PL quality. He's not even a top championship keeper. OK at best in this league, been very lucky to get the opportunities he has with us. It's time for him to move on.

If we went up I would expect Wilson to stay (If he wanted) - Would fill one of the home grown player slots

Interesting interview.

If he's still experiencing pain in the knee, no need to rush him back for one cup game. Depending on the league situation there could be opportunities for him to get some mins at the end of the season.

Thought it was worryingly downbeat.

It will be 9 months minimum, so January return.

Repetitive movements aren't an issue in ACLs, it's change of direction and single leg stability. Even though goalies don't do as much as the average outfield player, he still does need to be able to turn on the ball under pressure and land on the injured leg from a high, unstable jump.

Michael Cooper is a good example - ACL repair and was back in 9 months.

Just worth noting when predicting return time for future ACLs

How times have changed. When I was a young in, back in the 1840's, it used to be a Tufty badge and we used to say "your Tufty badge is in the post."

Ooh, contentious then, because I had a Tufty badge AND a Blue Peter badge.

I danced on Blue Peter.

Not sure they wanted me to, but I did it anyway.

I had some felt Tufty figures that would stick to the curtains, Tufty was all about road safety and I think there was a road with a zebra crossing. There must have been friends of Tufty and other figures as well but I can't remember who or what

A daft northern thing….clearly based on tufty badge but with a sprinkle of that amazing north west sense of humour they think we all love. If I go visiting family and arrive early I tend to get awarded one. Never stops being funny….

Hes plenty good enough to be on the bench as back up for Rushworth. In fact its a good job we kept him around.
If we keep Rushworth on, past his loan, then obviously Wilson moves on once Dovin is fit. (Or maybe Dovin moves on?)
Until then we should be grateful hes available.
