They've started 2 games together, lost against blackpool at home and beat Wigan at home (although 0-0 when they both left the pitch). They didn't particularly link up well in either game IIRC.

Blackpool is unfair because of the circumstances with no striker.

Even then, O'Hare assisted Palmer. Was a good goal.

I do think the mind was to play them both together and I think it would have worked, with O’Hare’s engine making up for Palmer’s lack of. Issue being O’Hare is so crucial to that dynamic. Still wouldn’t class Palmer as a failed signing but it’s apparent that zero contingency was made for O’Hare missing.

Palmer is a decent player, gets a lot of flack that isn't deserved. He's a bit more of a ball carrier that is looking for a killer pass. O'hare is a harrier that looks to move the ball quickly and inject pace in to the game. I also dont think people see the work Palmer does off the ball. We'd be much better with both in the team. Palmers finish today was very composed (unlike Allen's) I hope he can push on from there. Also thought the lofted ball across the box to be headed for Allen was a decent spot.

Notice how much better Hamer is since he hasn’t had to carry Sheaf.

O'Hare, Palmer, Hamer, Sheaf and Allen. All bring something to the table. Why are our fans hell bent on scoring cheap points? Slagging people off who have all got us results?

Oh hang on, I will listen to some terrace moron who can't kick a ball straight over three yards

Given the performances of supporters at half time in the "kick it for a ticket" you could be right!

O'hare reaching match fitness could prove pivotal to our attack really getting going. Don't know where he's going to fit in though if we want to keep playing Sakamoto.

Ohare will never be the same player he was before his injury as he will never have the pace he once had or quick feet. Whether he can adapt his game remains to be seen but one thing has struck me is Robins has not once said its like having a new player having him back which is what managers often say when long term injured players come back.
I would not be surprised to see him gone in January somewhere on loan with a mandatory fee as part of that deal.

If that is the case (which is very probable) then I’ll wish him all the best. Another who has contributed massively to our turnaround in the last few years.

Why won’t he… I don’t know enough about these things. I’m just assuming he will get back up to speed once fit!

One thing we do have to do is give him more than a couple of sub appearances before deciding!

It is early days after such a long injury for O'Hare. But watching him v Plymouth I am not sure that he is lacking fitness?

Plenty of running constantly on the move, but he seemed stuck in second gear, lacking that sudden burst of energy to put the press on like he used to? Also there was one moment when Eccles or Sheaf was bringing the ball out in midfield with O'Hare to the side and slightly behind. O',Hate had a whole channel in front of him to attack, as the player on the ball drew the press. O,'Hare seemed aware of the opportunity but lacked the pace to get in front of the player carrying the ball.

When he gets on the ball he still has a trick or two and looks useful posing a creative threat. December into January will be an interesting time for him and us as a club?

Most definitely.

I find it amusing that some seem happy to see him out of the door after a couple of rusty appearances. Its going to be towards the back end of the season where he'll hopefully be back to top form.

When he was fit, he was arguably one of our best and most important players. If he's happy to sign a new contract, we need to get him to sign it.

How many times does it need to be said that the only animosity towards him is because of the situation with his contract? Surely that's obvious???!!!

Well not really, no. There's been comments like he won't get into our team, where would he fit, might as well let him go etc.

I don't have a spreadsheet so can't be arsed to find them but they're there.

I think the fact we no longer play with a No 10 is a fair point to raise. People thought MvE couldn’t play any more cos we went to fullbacks!

The reason of that being his contract situation, people are just lashing out. If he still had 3 years people would remain patient and supportive. Football fans are very fickle, nothing worse than thinking a player doesn't want to be at the club you support
