This is a good question. As said, they were looked on as marquee signings, and I'm sure they both expected to be the first names on the team sheet. But our philosophy is to bring through the youngsters where we can. so, for a number of reasons, including this, a lack of fitness in Ogogo's case through injury, and adjusting to a new style of play, and different team mates' skills and qualities, etc. neither has had a good run in the team to establish themselves. Ogogo looked class early on but since then has looked uninterested, I wonder why!. Brown the same, really.

Weird one, I know from somebody that has worked with them both and that they are top pros and Ogogo really is a leader, not a bad word on either!

Not sure what’s happened here.

Hope we keep both and especially Ogogo gets a proper run in the side before the seasons out!

Maybe just maybe MR will be asked on the matter and we get a proper idea.

If it’s not working for what ever reason then circulate the names this month and move on

Dont suspect it will happen but maybe we do clear them both out this week - that said can he get better in at the same time? - for me the summer of 2018 recruitment will go down as a D on the report card...

I suspect part of the problem is the uncertainty about the club's future

Yes, I was going to say he looked head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch in the Scunthorpe game, but maybe I saw what I wanted to.

Brown is based still in/around Manchester and Ogogo may even be London they’ll probably go to sides in that direction.

Wonder who's going to be the first person to say Ogogo gone.

Is anybody going to ask Robins what the score is with them?

We keep hearing about inexperience and naive but we had a marquee signing in Ogogo who had a hefty signing on fee to pick us over Charlton and Brown as well.

We also had Andreu who wasn't making the bench but can then get straight into Hamilton's starting 11.

Senior players falling out with Robins left right and centre. Somethings not right that’s for sure.

Brown, Ogogo, Doyle, Davies, JCH all not first team regulars, when really they should be IMO.

Personal opinions cannot be a gauge to view the moral in the camp on who should or should not be starters.

I’m not saying Ogogo or Brown have not become unhappy but we cannot speculate on the rest

I felt sure ogogo was doyles replacement but can't understand why he is usually on the bench and can't get a run in the side. Are his old injuries still troubing him, is he unsettled? Whats up Doc.

Interesting. Also interesting how this post is ignored when coming from a decent source rather than the pile on the same sentiment gets from others.

Why just those two though? We’re rhey promised something on signing that hasn’t materialised? Surely everyone knew what this season was about going into it.

There is a general malaise because of the uncertainty
Most of us expect a deal to be done for the Ricoh eventually but imagine you are an employee, especially a player nearer the end of his career than the beginning it's bound to be unsettling
If you're also out of the team too....
It's human nature

Might even be able to put an apostrophe where it's needed - he could always borrow one from those who persist in calling him Robin's. Cue my other stalker...

It’d be interesting to know.

My mutual contact at Shrewsbury left in the summer as well so doubt they’d know.

Massive shame as I fully expected him to be the engine of our side!

I find it strange how robins had made no comment on Ogogo how did he play like they first game of the season to end up where he is now...Bizzare I think a run in the team would get him upto speed.

A lot of players who don’t perform at the club and with names mentioned in this window I just can’t see how he turns it round consolidate for this season & fingers crossed the right signings are made.Head of recruitment needs changing I know that much rather the manager identifies the players rather than these so called recruitment teams.

Like others on here. it would be interesting to get MR's update on Ogogo. As betterdays infers, what cannot be helpful is having several players out of favour, several players coming to the end of their contract and no positive updates about the stadium. Together that can only have an unsettling overall effect (albeit that is a difficult thing to quantify). Hopefully we have done enough, and will do enough to escape getting caught up in an embarrassing enf=d to the season. Saturday's game against Gillingham will be massive in that respect, as we have got an 'ugly' run of fixtures thereafter.

Now... generally I agree with this. I think it's often overlooked how the general running of the club impacts on performance. However, on these individual cases, I've got questions.

Why would it mean these two would be out the team, and not others?
Almost as soon as Brown came, there were rumours (maybe even from you?) that he'd fallen out with Robins. There were also rumours (again... from you? That Burge and Robins had had a blow-up early season but... Burge is still in the team, Brown gets relegated behind a 17yo in the pecking order. Whilst I can buy performances dip as minds are preoccupied that's not just a dip, that's a savage decline. I'm just wondering if in this case it's as much an excuse, as anything else. That's not to suggest off-field events have no impact, that'd be crazy, but it's not like if we were to sign a deal, Brown would suddenly turn a bit Roberto Carlos.

The Burge rumour didn't come from me, I hadn't actually heard that at all and as far as I know the relationship with Robins is fine
Not sure if Robins and Brown had a fall out, it just seemed that Brown was unhappy generally almost as soon as he arrived. Who knows why, it was a bit surprising to everyone
Maybe he had family issues or some other underlying problems. Maybe the reason will come out in due course but there is obviously something wrong

OK, great. Unlike many on here, I'd love him to stay and think it'll be one of our bigger losses if he does go.

Which does indeed suggest ground issues a general excuse... in this instance even if mooted, it'd seem to be looking for reasons, rather than the reason. Sometimes, people just don't settle somewhere, of course. In a general sense, signing him was always going to be a risk after a bad injury - and he's already played more games for us this season, than he did for Shrewsbury last.

If he lives in the north west, Coventry is a fair bit further as a commute to training than Shrewsbury and the M6 rather than a decent run through Cheshire on A roads. It could be as simple as that.

What I don't get with that though is surely he would know where Coventry was?

I can understand players looking to renew might be a bit wary of the predicament with the ground but surely Brown and Ogogo would have known that when they signed as it was only last summer?

The way I see it, and I'm not in the know so could be completely wrong, is that Brown was causing trouble from almost day one for reasons unknown and I think this has all but been confirmed. Ogogo then took a lot longer to recover from his injury than expected, as the two of them came from the same club they knew one another and in the time Ogogo was out of the team Brown was in his ear.

Now we're in a situation with the two marquee signings, and probably two of the highest paid players, not getting game time and unhappy. Hopefully we're in negotiations with clubs at the moment and are looking for the right fee. Move on from them and last summer's recruitment and start scouting for the summer.

Hmm, after waking up every day at 6am for the last month (and it's not even me with the new job!) I can understand how, until you do it, you might think it's easier than it is.

Guess the counter-argument is that footballers aren't exactly over-stretched in the time they have to be around the training ground, compared to Average Joe.

Fresh air compared to Doyle maybe, apart from his lack of vision forwards the thing that gets to me is whenever we get a free kick he always takes a quick one and we end up twenty yards back sometimes just put it into the box and see what happens they might have a goalie like Burge who doesn’t command his box

Footballers aren't badly paid. Rent a little one bed near Ryton and stay there while leaving your family where they are now if the travel is killing you.
