Precisely, tried watching NFL a couple of times but the stopping the clock thing I found really annoying.

Nice breather isn't it,,bring the stretcher on and see how many need it.Even if it's to the side of the pitch.

but they stop it every time it goes out of bounds. Not like I'm suggesting we stop it for goal kicks, corners and throws! Just injuries and subs.

The officials take an inordinate amount of time out of the game for set pieces It's rediculous really, has it always been like this, can't say I can make a judgement myself?

why is the referee is the only person in the stadium not capable of telling the difference between a major injury and someone falling to the floor when clearly nobody has touched them.

we all know instantly when its a major injury, if nothing else the players reaction gives it away.

don't understand why this is such an issue in football but every other sport has managed to avoid it.

I get Adge’s point, and many refs don’t show the mental fortitude required to deal with it, but some do. I recall in our FA Cup semi final Rashford went down like a sack of shit, ref just told him to get up and the game played on. Was it Attwell who was the ref that day?

I've never agreed with people saying the solution is to treat players on the pitch and let the game continue but after yesterday I'm fully on board with it.

Have to say one thing, he did well with our goal not to give a foul against MVE, given some of the soft fouls he'd given against us all game. Was the correct decision, but I was 100% expecting him to rule it out given the way the game had gone.

Think that was his way of saying I'm fucking fed up with this pantomime...I thought he was a terrible ref but he is in a lose lose with diving and play acting if he doesn't stop play and it really is genuine then he's fucked BUT how did he not send the lad to sideline after getting treatment was ...just wtf

Rules have changed if there is a yellow involved - if the repair is quick he gets to stay on - the fact that he was a cheating bastard with nothing wrong with him is beside the point

Players and managers always find a way to exploit the rules bo matter what laws they bring in. Since the head injury protocol for example the number of players who go down with a head injury when the contact was in the back or chest area is laughable.

If they are genuinely injured take then off. I can never get my head around one minute looking like you've broken something to getting up and playing on as normal.

Players and managers have always done this and will continue to do this. How there was only 3 mins added in time in the first half was surprising

How about however long you spend recieving treatment is how long you have to wait on the touch line before you can come back on.
And the same for substitutes( make exceptions for where a doctor certifies serious injury).
And if they persist with goalkeepers playing silly buggers. They have to leave the field for the time they were being treated, with an outfield player taking the jersey.
See how many want to go down then.

The sad part of yesterday’s game is that , the referee was not at this level of officiating & more worrying, is that the spineless EFL won’t take any notice of any report going in from CCFC …….. it would only probably go against us

why wouldn't stopping the clock work? 'Time off' like in Rugby. Keep it to injuries and subs. Nothing else.

Having seen stopping the clock in the NFL no thanks just do as FIFA did in the last world cup and add on time . How long did Norwich take when they scored they even wasted time then by all going I to a huddle in our half

but you're talking about a sport where the clock stops every time the ball goes out of bounds which isn't what I'm suggesting.

Trouble is is that the referee is responsible for the player’s safety at all times and what happens on the pitch is ultimately his responsibility to a degree. This is why the game will always be stopped. It would take just one occasion when the referee didn’t stop the game and it resulted in a major injury or career ending injury for that referee to be held accountable. It’s a no win situation unfortunately.

This is like those health and safety types who suddenly won’t let people drink tea in case they get burned. If referees can’t be sensible then someone who can should do the job. If they’re scared of being sued something needs to change because at the moment they’re ruining the game

If it was a dive surely he would have booked Wright?

He should have been asked on camera why it was a free kick to them and not a penalty.

If it was for hand ball, it should have also been a booking.

This might seem hyperbolic but this will be my last season after 20 years as a ST holder. (Unless we get promoted as I’m on the prem package).

If a player stops play for injury and then is able to play on immediately, he should get booked. It’s blatant time wasting and wastes so much more time than someone getting booked for taking too long over a throw etc.

A player yesterday ran across to the half way line to fall over there instead so it took longer to “hobble” off. I ended up just paying to be frustrated, could have done so much better things with that time and money. Done.

Let’s face it though Norwich’s anti-football gamesmanship ended up costing them. Wouldn’t have been as much added time had they not spent half of the game rolling around feigning injury

Can only assume it was handball he gave, no booking necessary for that. It's yet another appalling decision from the best possible view he could get though.

Nope. Another common misconception from fans. Only if it is to stop a "promising attack".

The other part of their tactics was for the planned substituted players to go down first on the pitch then get the physio on them go off - and I don’t mean the guy who hobbled to the centre circle before going down again

Just happened in the Burnley v Liverpool game where the physios came on after a booking and Mcallister stayed on the pitch. Like us the Burnley fans were jeering like mad.

Surely it's time for the ref to be able to say no if a player is clearly not injured.

Bad enough how most fans don't know the rules, but a 'Senior Football Anchor' being paid thousands is inexcusable.

Yeah maybe. I was just there for the first time in my life yesterday thinking, I’d rather be doing something else than watching these millionaires pretending to be injured. And I was there at the darkest days home and away. Maybe it’s that other things in my life give me more joy than football these days but I do think the timewasting and histrionics have contributed to the buzz going away for whatever reason.
