Why? If it's not a head injury then the game isn't stopped for outfield players when the ball is in play.

Because if the keeper is injured and play continues it’s incredibly easy for the other team to score? What are you on about

What can he do about the time wasting realistically?

When they fake injuries he has no options. He was actually pretty hot on stuff otherwise.

He can see by the amount they do when comparing the two teams, it's time they realised it's a tactic of team's when they're away from home.

There are no genuine injuries like this. If the keeper is injured and needs to come off then they can be subbed that’s what that’s there for. Otherwise fuck it let’s stop the game for nine months while an ACL heals. The idea physios are treating serious injuries and players are playing on is complete nonsense.

There are plenty of injuries that require temporary treatment and then see the players get up and carry on with the game, it happens every week?

I’m not expecting you to agree with it, certainly not after we’ve just watched a time wasting masterclass, but keepers are always going to get special treatment (rightly so) and player welfare is always going to take precedence over time-wasting concerns. Encouraging players to play through injuries so they don’t have to come off isn’t brave or admirable anymore, it’s just stupid.

It's a tactic and it needs a sin bin or something like for me.

Deffo got worse since VAR came in. All the focus has been on that last few years. Find it truly pathetic when the ref and linesman are just stood looking at each other to make a decision and then they just guess - happens way more often now. But yeah since VAR, no authority, fannying around with decisions, get away with it in the premier league as they can come back to it but in the Championship it’s just shocking, so indecisive.

I can’t see anything in the rules about having to stop the game for keepers. What are you on about?

Lampard pretty insistent we should have had a pen. Didn’t get a good enough view of it personally.

Haven't seen a replay yet and was down the other end.

He gave them a free kick for some reason which was strange?

I don’t know the answer as a lot of it was by the rules of the game.

To be honest I’d like to see the FA get involved for cheating like they do when players dive (especially when I saw a Norwich player at the death nudge his goalie to go down).

Only takes one time for the ref to be wrong and something awful happens if they ignore it all together

There’s nothing in the rules about stopping the game for every minor injury. Players are supposed to leave the pitch at the next break of play. This idea what every time a player sits down the game has to stop is completely made up.

By your logic we shouldn’t have competitive football because players push themselves through injury all the time.

And if they fuck up, and a team loses a game because the ref has ignored the injury, they will get busted for it.

We're going round in circles here, but the referee will not risk something like that. They have a career to manage, too.

What about if a team loses a game because refs miss everything?

Let's face it, refs can do what they did today and fuck all happens.

He enabled the time wasting because he watched them do it, then went over, then they just waste time after again.

Of course they do, which is bad. That’s why the rules shouldn’t incentivise them to do it more.

As I said earlier, keepers are always going to get special/different treatment because of the unique role they play.

So take an outfield player off every time.

Job done.

Even aside from time wasting, he was fucking terrible.

The only thing I'll say in his defence is there were a couple of incidents that the linesmen were close to and they gave him no help at all, a trio of useless cunts

The rules say play on if it’s not a serious injury. If a player can’t go on that’s just bad luck and they get subbed off. But there is nothing in the rules that allows for what we saw today. Every player that stopped the game and wasn’t seriously injured (which I’d say needs a sub) should have been booked for simulation IMO.

Yep. The lino on the side of the benches was constantly behind the game.

Haven't seen the disallowed goal back to see how offside it was but he missed about 3 offsides for them.

I guess? Or just make refs do their job in terms of stoppage time. I miss that World Cup 10+ minutes energy. Although it would mean I’d miss my train most weeks.

Even with VAR, the referees in this country are useless. Anyone seen the disallowed goal in the Spurs game? Ridiculous.

Oggy they booked 2 first half and played 9 minutes second,, that doesn't matter when it's destroyed your game plan.

Not seen it but with var they are still making mistakes.

How can they watch multiple replays and still get it wrong? Then have to come out and apologise.

It’s completely pointless and all decent football fans should demand it be scrapped.

Ref booked 3 of them for time wasting and added 10 mins on. Can't really do more than that

He added 3 minutes on after the first half where he booked 2 after giving them multiple warnings and them having a goal.

He added 9 on second half, still blew up dead on the 9th even after a goal and them time wasting still.
