Too many managers are fired nowadays due to the failings of their players to execute the plans they have worked on week in week out. It’s about time owners sacked some of these over entitled players instead.

King is a successful businessman and I would imagine he has to be ruthless in his pursuit of that. He's demanding success for the club.

A pretty cold announcement in my view. MR has given me some of the best footballing memories of my life. I wish he had departed by mutual consent with lots of warmth and emotion in the announcement. The words are there about his achievements but it's all a bit too corporate and business like for me - MR deserved way better I think. Interesting times ahead because Doug has been largely devoid of pressure up to now. Now he has made this massive call and sacked someone who should have a statue outside the CBS, he's put himself front and centre in terms of calling the shots and having responsibility
