Still, 3rd season in a row we've started poorly and I get the impression he's not suited to a modern coaching setup. People on here implying Doug's been digging Robins grave.

Granted he might not be used to a "Modern coaching set up" with more staff than players in the dugout, and their Ipads and matching tracksuits, but his record speaks for itself over the course. He knows more about the club and what works best more than DK

He's had time to turn it around, more than other managers would get that's for sure.

Without FA Cup SF the season wouldn't have been good enough and this season's it's been poor. He built it up alongside the club to aim for top six and promotion this season and we aren't close.

Whether you like it or not it's the right call, Since the FA Cup SF we've won four league games. It's not good enough for the squad here, it was time.

I'm also not sadistic, I'm a realist.

Why are you excluding the achievement of the FA Cup run?

It's nuts to say without the FA Cup, the season wouldn't have been good enough, when the FA Cup run was part of our season..

There is a First World War General about I know whom quite a lot (sad, I know) called William Robertson, who coined the phrase 'War is a one man show'. Football is the same and Robins was our 'one man'. I think SISU had come to understand that, now we have to have King working his way up the learning curve to reach the same conclusion

Robins pretty much dragged us up. Like a single mum on welfare. There's a reason people feel like they've lost a family member. DK has undone all of the goodwill he earned by apparently ousting SISU.

Yep.. DK jumped the gun fool!!

If you going to make such a big decision like sacking your manager that has been with us loyally for a long time... At least have someone in line to take over instead of taking your bloody time to appoint a successor... That time we spend looking could have been enough for MR to turn it around.

I see us back to the old days of them bloody revolving doors.

the key phrase there is 'new structure', in my (long) experience structural change is hugely over rated as a vehicle for improvement, but politicians, management consultants and new owners love it. Looks 'busy'.

I have this seasons CCFC calendar, In it are Robins, Viveash, Lawrence ,Godden, Mcfadzean , O hare, Kelly ,And Parmer, removing all that experience in less than 12 months is a Massive part of the problem

Sad day to be honest there’s not a single person including DK who wouldn’t have wanted this to be different.

Mixed feelings yes the results since feb/march haven’t been great and any other manager prob would have been sacked weeks ago.

However, this man has done so much and had a lot of success for this club through more adversity than any other manager has had to cope with throughout the same period. He will forever be remembered as one of the greatest to manage Coventry city not just by us but you look at the reaction of other fans shows the impact he’s had on the clubs rise from the lowest of the low.

Fast forward to this season and the new structure that’s been implemented. I have no problem in DK trying to progress this club to the next level. But again it seems to have been a haphazard approach to it all. AV sacked on the eve of pre season arguably the most crucial time of the season for preparing players for the season and adopting play styles etc advertising for an assistant and then just deciding to go with more coaches. The missing of summer transfer targets leaving us short in midfield. The change hasn’t been smooth and things haven’t gone to plan and for me now robins is paying the price for this for what necessarily isn’t his fault.

But King has decided to go with finding another head coach and now he’s gotta put his money where his mouth is. This next appointment is crucial and god help him if this coach has a bad start. However whoever it is we should back them as no matter what you think of King we all want the same thing.

No it's not is it but I'm not advocating sacking one of our greatest managers after a slow 14 game start to the season 7 points off the playoffs .

I think it's a terrible decision and he deserves more time

You are seemingly happy with it which begs the question how long you will give a manager that's new

I'm sorry if you don't believe there was just cause, but results weren't good enough this calendar year, that's the root cause of it.

Does he deserve more time, not for me to say, but the owner has pulled the trigger he obviously feels he can make an appointment to get us out of this situation - good luck to him on that.

Happy, no. I wanted it to work out but I saw that it wasn't going to. Sometimes a change is needed and in this instance I feel it is needed.

I think many of our fans that would sack a manager like this in this way after so much success have the morals of a fart.

And you would too had it been any club but ours

Like I said, if they can do this to Robins then God help the new guy

Under SISU latterly robins was top dog, with his team and a low key commercial manager, and it worked, or so it seemed.

King has brought in more modern concepts and a broader management team, less Robins' "one man show"

But whose to not say that shitty SISU after years of cocking it up had actually got it right?
Robins kept the sisu model working. When robins decided to leave on his own accord we would be up shit creek as we were reliant on him.

Now at least we have a model that is sustainable wether you like it or not it's silly to say sisu days were better

Because if you take the cup away we spent what £20m+ and we failed to challenge consistently for the playoffs and in the end fell short.

In addition, we also had a bit of fortune last season that our season suddenly changed around when COH came back from injury, there is no rabbit to pull out the hat this time.

When you consider these things and ask "Were we good enough last season in the league?" the answer is/was no.

We've had a shit, inconsistent start. Nobody can deny that. I have doubted Robins this season, especially with Adi leaving, as his career without him hasn't been great.

However, we have a clear issue in the lack of experience and leadership in our squad. We can't control games for long enough or maintain consistency. A new manager doesn't fix that, the transfer window does.

Robins deserved the time to get these players and if it still wasn't working then you pull the trigger with greater understanding from fans. Now it's toxic and if the next appointment is wrong (or has the same issues with this squad!!) we're going to reach insane levels of toxic.

In our top 5 managers ever, and hounded out by a bunch of tossers the first time he goes through a crisis. A very dark day for the club.

I don't understand this at all. You're saying there's a 'good' way to sack someone? I'm all ears. Turning on fans and questioning their morals for daring to have an opinion that differs from yours is a slippery slope.

The club obviously monitors social media, and the constant shouty calls by a minority on here for Robins to go could easily have been misinterpreted as a groundswell of feeling among the fanbase.

Cheers guys.

Absolutely gutted. An end of an era. Enjoyed the ride with Robin's. Been able to hold my head up as a sky blue. I just hope King knows what he's doing. Out of interest, who advices him on the football side of things?
