I haven't read all the previous stuff so apologies if this has been said but anyway....

I'm assuming those who sacked Robins think that we, Coventry City , are punching below our weight. We've had a poor start but given where Robins has taken us and all the shite he has had to put up with I think he of all people can be forgiven for one indifferent season even though it's still fairly early on .

It begs the question as to where our owner thinks we should be as a club. Ultimately of course we all want to be in the premier league but I'd like to enjoy the journey , quite frankly . When we get there well be there for the likes of the big 5 , nothing else.

I'm shocked by this. The managerial merry go round begins now and it'll become a revolving door just like most other clubs.

I hope Robins has success wherever he goes. He saved this club from oblivion in a way unmatched by any other manager in our history and I will always remember that until my dying day.

Whoever comes in next is going to be like Michael Beale was at Sunderland - on a hiding to nothing. May as well line up the one after him already.

The home form in particular just hasn’t been good enough. We’ve lost 4 home games already.

There is a real risk that we’ve been badly exposed to the teams that are defensive and physical.

Eccles and Sheaf being 2 pivots is something that worked last season but looks completely broken this season. Too often, we moving the ball side to side and teams will put 10 men behind the ball and we have no answers. All of our losses, barring Leeds away against Derby, Swansea, Norwich, PNE, Sheff W and Stoke have happened this way. Unable to break teams down.

It really doesn’t help that Robins looks fundamentally unsure of what his best team is.

The Eccles/Sheaf thing hasn't worked very well this season, because Sheaf's form dipped and he looked rusty when he came back into the side from injury.

The Simms EA’s new game where you try and keep a pampered underperforming Simm happy with an endless string of coaches and managers before getting sick of it and drowning him in a pool.

100% but Robins has receipts for when he's turned it around in the past.

How long do you think our now massively entitled fanbase is going to give a new manager? Especially now, DK has reinforced the belief we should be in the playoffs at all times. My bet is that over the next 5-10 seasons we average a manager every 12-18 months.

I hope Grendel has Uber One, with the amount of taxis he'll be calling every couple of games.
Fully in agreement here, I trusted and wanted to believe MR was going to turn it around again.

Thinking forward, this next manager needs to have experience getting promoted to the Prem and/or managed there. They need to be demonstrably a better manager than MR. Otherwise, the knives will be out from Day 1 as soon as results turn.

No disrespect to any of the L1 managers out there, that’s not clear they’re an upgrade to MR. I don’t care if you’re at the top of L1 with no funds and we had that with MR!

Just thinking about how many clubs are going to be trying to attract Robins, even though I guess he'll at least take a break.

King should have touted him out to other clubs, we may as well have been compensated on his way out.

Feels like a mistake at this stage - I really want to be proven wrong. The timing is a bit strange.

I’m quite gutted tbh and feel like he should have been given until at least January to get some new faces in where needed.

I don’t think Eccles has played particularly well either - our results before Sheaf came back were poor.

The midfield just isn’t good enough and in truth, hasn’t been since Hamer left. Our form against top half teams showed that last season, this season… it’s bad against everyone.

Our defence is just tragic too, the amount of comical goals we’ve conceded in 2024 is just beggars belief.

and getting relegated would've been one, too. Imagine our PPG rate since Man Utd is nailed-on relegation form.

Appointing someone like Bloomfield could be a master stroke. Hard part is we'll have to wait a while to find out.

Unbelievable, absolutely astounded. Whoever sanctioned that decision needs sacking themselves. Yes it’s not the best start to the season but they are only 7 points off the playoffs and that is not beyond this team, especially with Robins at the helm, a decent run of games would have them right back up there. I hope the “gang“ of coaches take their fare share of responsibility, not only for the performances, which wasn‘t great last night, but also for Robins losing his job and they themselves fall on the sword. I’m a liverpool supporter/CCFC season ticket holder and I’m gutted.
Finally Mr Robins, Good luck with the next chapter in your life and thank you to for everything you’ve done for this club, Wembley was becoming a second home.

All hyperbole and mourning aside: management isn’t a solved science. We had something that works, like a cat or a romantic relationship there’s no sense in trying to rationalise that by taking it apart for analysis, you’ll just kill it. Appreciate it while it’s in your life.

It’s so rare to find what we had with Robins that you let it run its course and let him guide you. When it’s over sure go with your best guess on what should happen, but to override someone as special as Robins means you have to get it right a lot more often than Douglass does.
I agree with this a lot more. Maybe we changed too much too quickly but it’s keeps getting simplified to being the new coaches/structure is the problem. Simple answers to complex problems.
