The manager is responsible for motivating the players and frankly, our issues this year have been tactical.

We’ve lost to some average teams who have approached the game in more or less the same way.

Singling out the performance director is just a bit bizarre. The performances haven’t been good enough.

She’s new. Things have changed for the worse since she arrived. I also think we should sack Aled Williams is that helps.

Looney toon type goals are player errors not tactical issues. As for 'identity', not sure what you're talking about really, it's quite nebulous.

It's not really. There's no real concrete strategy for any phase of play. Out of possession we often disjointed and lack any kind of real organisational stability and in our defensive transitions we don't have any real shape and players are often positionally all over the place and get drawn out - use Luton's second goal as a reference point for this.

Attack is probably the least of our concerns given the number of decent chances we actually create, yet we're so ponderous on the ball and there's very little movement by players both in midfield and in attack to open up space for themselves. A far cry from previous seasons where we were well known for breaking fast, transitioning the ball up the pitch quickly and had forwards running the channels effectively and with purpose.

There's such hesitancy about his team, a lot of which is probably confidence, but I'd still say tactically they seem to have very little understanding or awareness of what their role is in the system that Robins and the coaches have set out.

I hope we lose all the coaching staff upon a new appointment but I doubt they will

How about you direct your anger at the players who have ultimately got him sacked?

No because we don’t have a manager any more because that’s not elite. We have Dictator Doug hiring and firing everyone with his encyclopaedic football knowledge.

What's the line though? When does poor form become too much? You can't let it go on forever. And 5/6 months of actual in season game time is arguable enough to turn it around. 7/8 wins in that period isn't enough for the investment into the team.

I would have given Robins more time still however, if you want to save this season then for Doug clearly now is the time to do it. Rather than another transfer window and at this rate flirting with relegation.

Or it's to give somebody a couple of weeks with the players.

If we dont hire to give them time then it's weird

No, you miss my point. AFTER the Sunderland game would make sense, for the sake of 2 more days. It's quite abnormal to sack a manager unless they've become completely unhinged this close to a game when you have a 2 week window just round the corner.

It's like Doug's desperate to sack him, and didn't want to risk us pulling something off against Sunderland and making him unsackable for a few more games.

Shocking.
But probably the right decision.
Robins seems to be unsure what to do, what his best team or formation is.
He seems unable to motivate the squad and the players aren't playing for him.
I was expecting it over the summer.
Deadly Doug really is deadly.
All the best to Mark for his service to the club.

The players simply didn't turn up last night. There must be more to this than what we know.

Were they? Why did things get so much worse one they were changed then?

Live in reality not some manual you’ve read or whatever. How was this the right time and right decision for Coventry City FC at this time?
What manual? I’m going off Robins saying everyone had too many responsibilities so more staff were needed.

The reality is it’s been a slow decline over about 18 months or more with a few highlights and new setup has only been in place the last few.

Notionally it's a welcome example of the kind of transparency that we've been badly lacking and a good example of why it's beneficial having these supporters groups, but in practice I find it unlikely King will give any kind of useful information

exactly, if they want to be transparent they can do that in other forms.

The instigator of that set up who is apparently quite opinionated has been in place for *checks notes* 18 months though

You’re dead right.

It wasn’t just a short period of bad form. Over the last 20-30 games we’ve lost far too many games.

If any other manager was in charge, we’d have called on him to be sacked based on form. Honestly say I would have. Perhaps sentiment and/or loyalty was clouding our judgement.

The worst spin: it is an act of disloyalty for everything MR has given to the club. That’s more in tune with my feelings as of right now.

The best positive spin I can put on this is that DK isn’t burdened by sentiment and maybe this difficult decision is best for the club.

I don’t believe that, but it is a possibility and only time will tell right now.

I have been and will again on Saturday but as I don't believe they read this form I can only feel this would be the wrong form for any messages I have for them.

2 wins in last 3...Robins has turned it around every season. King has got this massively wrong. He's potentially going to destroy everything that has been built over the past few years. ROBINS IS A SKY BLUE LEGEND

Removing the sentimental aspect of it to one side, no one can really make that judgement unless the results / performances are as bad or worse under Robins' replacement.

Whatever isn't working with the team, Robins is the best person, and only proven one out of those linked to be capable of turning it around. Now it's back on the managerial merry-go-round and back to back to mediocrity.

If we do have to have someone other than Robins, I hope it's some unknown from somewhere like Scandinavia with ridiculous stats, rather than any of those proven losers.

Biggest concern for me now is the fan destabilisation and how that could affect the new guy coming in. He actually would have been better sacking him weeks ago …

There are other factors at play though with the end of last season though .

We aren't the same team with the same coaching structure now either

Under SISU latterly robins was top dog, with his team and a low key commercial manager, and it worked, or so it seemed.

King has brought in more modern concepts and a broader management team, less Robins' "one man show"

But whose to not say that shitty SISU after years of cocking it up had actually got it right?
