its great news, i do believe NOPM has hit home. They treated the club and fans with disdain before, this year they have felt the full power and importance of support. I hope they buy the ricoh, we move back fans flock back and success on the pitch follows. (hope the kids dont freak out in front of a crowd though lol) maybe they will see that the only way to make the money they obviously crave is to back the club and bring success. PUSB

I actually admired the statement from ccfc today. Short and to the point. No finger pointing. Almost excellent! Lets hope it is the start of things to come .....

Talks look set to be on over a sale of the Ricoh Arena to Sky Blues owners Sisu .

Sisu boss Joy Seppala has written to council leader Ann Lucas this afternoon to agree to talks.

The pair are now set to sit down for the first time together to try to thrash out an agreement to bring the club home to Coventry and the Ricoh Arena.

It will be the first time the parties have held discussions since March - before Coventry City Football Club went into administration.

The club confirmed to the Telegraph this afternoon Ms Seppala has written to Coun Lucas to agree to talks.

A club statement this afternoon reads: "We were pleased to note that Coun Ann Lucas has clarified her position and is prepared to discuss a freehold sale of the Ricoh Arena.

"We can confirm that Joy Seppala has today responded to Coun Lucas’ invitation to hold talks."

The Telegraph put pressure on Sisu/Otium on Tuesday to clarify whether it was willing to hold urgent talks with the council, which owns the Ricoh Arena.

The club responded by calling on Coun Lucas to clarify whether the council was prepared to discuss a freehold sale of the Ricoh Arena, based on independent valuations.

If not, the statement - revealed in Wednesday’s Telegraph - said the club would press ahead with plans to build a new stadium in Warwickshire after groundsharing in Northampton for up to five years.

Coun Lucas responded to the Telegraph story by issuing a statement clarifying she was willing to discuss a “deal” with Ms Seppala - which did not exclude a sale on a freehold or leasehold basis.

A Coventry City Council spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Coun Lucas has today received a letter from Joy Seppala and she looks forward to meeting her as soon as possible."

Now I hope these talks are quick, behind the scenes, and the next 'statement' is to announce a deal has been done.

I hope the same sw88

No need for updates through the media, just positive talks in private and edge towards a deal.

Personally I hope sisu do get the Ricoh as we will move forward as a club IMO.

Personally I think SISU are trying to buy the Ricoh and make a successful business of the place. As a by product of this they must own the club and turn that into some form of success. For this we must support their efforts to purchase the Ricoh. However we do want them to purchase it at the right price that does not have a negative effect on the Councils coffers.

They are trying to buy it to make a quick profit out of it. Period!

Realism is that Sisu owning the Ricoh isn't the solution, it will just continue the disunity and chaos. All offers need to be on the table including rental. CCC can't sell the Ricoh to this bunch.
NOPM is working.

I hate it when the CCFC website is used for this politik. I also hate antagonistic trimming of a wider picture down to a slender window of what was said in order to suit a narrow agenda.

'We were pleased to note that Cllr Ann Lucas has clarified her position and is prepared to discuss a freehold sale of the Ricoh Arena'

Wasn't the offer to discuss many more options than this? If CCC come at these discussions with a number of options, and SISU are only honing in on one output; it doesn't bode well for a successful outcome.

FFS, this is last orders in the last chance saloon. Let's have both sides entering talks with the intent of candidly discussing all options

Ann Lucas's statement said "I am prepared to discuss, subject to contract, and without prejudice to the on-going court case, the issue of stadium ownership with Joy Seppala just as I have been prepared to discuss stadium ownership with other interested third parties in the past"

So whilst she did not specify freehold, it seems it is an option open to be discussed. SISU seemingly chose to seize upon that & this is merely more of the same...trying to at least appearing to bully/push people into a corner to follow their agenda only.

I envisage a miserly offer for the freehold, which will be rejected by CCC.

Are you a 'sisu will charge the club 1.2 million rent' or 'they're just after the land' believer? Both are laughable.

Why do they need the freehold? Itll make them no money.

Or just keep the team playing in Northampton where no one wants to go watch Coventry play.

Sounds sooo much better doesn't it?

Sorry to be dour, but it just seems like more posturing from both sides to me with one eye keenly on the JR. Bearing in mind that it has come out that CCC spoke to other parties about ownership, the meeting has to go ahead - for both sides. I can't see it being productive at all. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm sorry but I haven't got a good feeling about this. If SISU buy the stadium - well, let's say on their current track record anything could happen, usually not good for the team.
