Aw shiiiiiiiiiit. I'm not expecting anything to actually come of these talks, but the fact they're actually going to happen is something in itself.

actually you're right ( i think ) i thought the council stance was that freehold was not in the equation.. but this statement makes it clear they think it is. did the council mention this in their latest statement.. or is this sly wording from sepala

I think sisu are jumping the gun here mentioning the freehold.

I agree that it's probably another stick to beat the council with if they don't sell.

In her statement to the council on the 22nd she stated that all options were open to discussion

Captain Timmy and his ship sailed off into the sunset. He encountered stormy waters and Admiral Joy ordered him to return to port.

I hate it when the CCFC website is used for this politik. I also hate antagonistic trimming of a wider picture down to a slender window of what was said in order to suit a narrow agenda.

'We were pleased to note that Cllr Ann Lucas has clarified her position and is prepared to discuss a freehold sale of the Ricoh Arena'

Wasn't the offer to discuss many more options than this? If CCC come at these discussions with a number of options, and SISU are only honing in on one output; it doesn't bode well for a successful outcome.

FFS, this is last orders in the last chance saloon. Let's have both sides entering talks with the intent of candidly discussing all options

Maybe THIS is the time to cut Sisu some slack and give them the benefit of doubt. I know, I know, - BUT there has to be a way away from the impasse and this means tolerance even amongst the fans who've been constantly lied to and shafted.
This is a tough realisation but we have to accept it.

Personally I think SISU are trying to buy the Ricoh and make a successful business of the place. As a by product of this they must own the club and turn that into some form of success. For this we must support their efforts to purchase the Ricoh. However we do want them to purchase it at the right price that does not have a negative effect on the Councils coffers.

Sorry, I have seen no evidence that this is their intention. They could run the business very effectively with a long leasehold with access to all revenues and low rent; and given they don't want this, there might be a mind that would deduce they want the Ricoh to lever borrowing against. Or sell quickly at a profit. And to whom?

There's more 'evidence' in the latter scenario than the former. Otherwise a long lease would surely be on the cards, no?

Do you even read anything, or just go off RFC and Grendels posts? No statement has ever ruled out a sale, just "getting value for taxpayers".

This is good news, but it doesn't solve the problem of how much is the Ricoh worth?

I should imagine both sides will have to compromise. If it fails it will be the side unwilling to compromises fault !!!!!

Talks about anything by definition include freehold talks.

Caps lock is not autocorrect for your argument.

Hopefully when they meet they actually get on.

Never underestimate the power of a decent working relationship.

When taking this into consideration its not difficult to see how Fisher never got anywhere.

I couldn't give a shit about value for taxpayers. They'll probably end up subsidising the stadium in the end anyway.
Just sell to the club and move on.

Reading some of the posts on here I'm confused as to what people want and what their motives are. It's like some people are that obsessed with Sisu they have forgotten about the football club.

Are you a 'sisu will charge the club 1.2 million rent' or 'they're just after the land' believer? Both are laughable.

The main objective at this point is to getting Coventry city back to the ricoh And plying their trade within the city again, nothing more nothing less, Stop digging into the politics as in all honesty most of us know nothing about it.
As fans its the football on the pitch , the transfers and the club.
We cant do anything about the rest

If what ACL said in their statement in the summer is 100% true and Joy really did say it's the freehold or Northampton then any talks must be a good thing. However who do we think is going into this feeling they are holding a winning hand, CCC or SISU? If ACL are doing as well as PWKH said on CWR then it sounds like the council aren't in a desperate need to sell either the freehold or their share of ACL and would think they held a decent hand. SISU on the other hand do have our club and Joy is holding it hostage at Sixfields (and the council are supposed to want it back in Coventry) so SISU may feel they hold the best cards.

The fact that they are actually going to meet and have a talk has got to be positive, its a massive move forward from the statement and counter statement crap being fought out through the Telegraph. I genuinely think the low attendances have had a big effect on SISU and has forced their hand to this point, £200000 drop in revenue because 8000 are staying away has to have a big effect on your planning. How many investors do you know who can afford to take a 4 mill hit? NOPM.
