Bookies have slashed the odds from 30/1 to 8/1 on TM being the next fulham manager

Probably all based on rumour and gossip.

That's what the bookies react to. A paper says he is linked, others jump on board with it and then the bookies slash the odds accordingly.

Everyone type in Tony Mowbray Fulham into Google and see what you get...Coventry Telegraph. Even if it's on a different site, i.e. Football League World you will see the words "according to the Coventry Telegraph" at the bottom of their piece.

It's just more shit from the CT.

I doubt this will come off when other managers out there are available for free

Brendan Rodgers
Steve Clark
Nigel Pearson
David Moyes
etc

Also the bookies are very rarely right with Managers, its always an outsider or someone who were not in the betting frame.

CET or no CET
He has done an amazing job so far.
He will be linked to every championship and lower Prem job that comes up IMO
Just hope we he doesn't go anywhere and takes Armstrong with him!!!

I've just bet a tenner on Mark Cooper being manager of Walsall, Chesterfield and Yeovil.

Logic suggests If TM is going to be next Fulham manager they should be running a book on our next incumbent.
Can't see it there so this is obviously bullshit.

Don't the odds change based on a few things like:

  • Bets Placed
  • Chatter in the media
  • Chatter on forums like this etc.

This happened with SP and he never left. All it needs is a couple of bets and the odds drop.

Pretty sure it just bets placed mate, which is directly correlated with the other factors your mention ☺

And here is the culprit:

read it and take even less notice of our local media.

Not that I think it's true but when the story broke on Monday a journalist from the Coventry Observer had heard exactly the same thing.

The odds will be based on what the bookies have calculated they stand to lose IF (insert event here) was to happen. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy of odds going down, so people perceive it is more likely to happen (because the odds have come down), chuck a few bob on it, thereby increasing the risk to the bookies, who have to cut the odds further to offset their risk. And so on, and so on ...
It's also what makes betting on this sort of thing a mug's game!

All betting is a mugs game unless you find good odds all the time. Otherwise the bookies would be skint.

I was having a half decent season. I got greedy. Put most of my winnings on us to beat Sheffield United. I got 9/4. Trying to work out if I am a mug, got mugged or both

I suggest that as second favorite TM should come out and speak if there is any link, a bit like the guy at rangers did a wee while back

I think the Telegraph should stick to hard hitting factual stories like this.

Obviously Simon Gilbert has laid £100k on it to throw the odds as part of his relentless campaign to destabilise CCFC.

All of you get real bookies odds have been slashed big deal. So until the telegraph did this article Fulham had never heard of TM or the job he is doing at CCFC? Mind you if he does go you can all blame the telegraph.

Obviously the CET do have an agenda. It is beyond doubt they have harboured a grudge for some time and have sided with the council and Wasps.

The problem I have is that I remember when it had real Sports journalists like Neville Foulger who produced match reports and build up articles that were actually worth reading.

Now we have a few toe the line jobs worths who just make a living by copying and pasting other articles, or in this case actually starting a rumour that never existed.

The trust should urge all it's members to boycott purchasing it and also to not log into the website as well as writing a formal letter of complaint to the HQ and advise that the policy persued is costing revenue.

Let's see what Poole and co print then.

i agree but I think a lot of the Coventry public don't buy it anyway as its crap and most clicks probably come through here.

I don't think they do all come from here, yes some but there's still a big market who use social media or just login instead of buying it.

You also have people who just get the print version still.

There will still be a circulation of printed copies. Threatening a dwindling circulation is no bad thing.

It's portrayal of Preston Haskell as a potential buyer was the beginning and since then it's becoming farcical.

The Observer published the Butts stadium story and there was a statement/rebuttal online within hours... yet for this there is nothing. It's a little concerning...
