Yes but I wasn't the one suggesting a vote Grendel was and your question was specifically about the mechanics of that vote.

I don't think Grendel has answered you, yet you don't seem to be chasing that up, can't think why?

Do the majority of Cov fans think we should have moved to Northampton?

You will know the answer to that question. Yet the FA did not do a poll. Genius isn't it?

You said if the majority agree - if its not a poll what did you have in mind. A clipboard in the town centre?

To me you don't need a poll the answer is pretty obvious?

Wow wow wow slow down there how can you imply that the majority of Cov fans are against the move to Northampton - there hasn't been an official vote!! Or has there? Maybe I missed it...was it a majority...a supermajority? Lol...

No.

You're saying it's acceptable on a short term financial level to move out of the town or city. That's odd.

It is sometimes acceptable on a short term financial level to move out of the town or city.

But the current plan makes no sence short term, medium term or long term, there are no actual financial arguments for what we have done, there are multiple situations where I would support ccfc outside the city, none of them are even close to applying here.

You are assuming that ACL would charge them £100K.
If ACL are getting absolutely nothing at the moment then any income is better than that.
You can see that from the various U21 matches etc that are being played there.

Boro fans may dislike Coventry but the ultimate 'one upmanship' is to actually take over their ground.

ACL would seriously have to blank CCFC for good or groundshare, but this becomes a major decision that would only be made if SISU dare to lay some bricks.

Or it maybe ACL dare sign up Nuneaton or someone else

Nuneaton fans would not attend the Ricoh?
Interesting
If that is correct and after it was clearly explained to them the reasons why. Ie if the club could not afford to upgrade and it was either this or stay non league. If they then still wanted non league over playing 5 miles away. Then if that is what the majority (no by an official FA vote) wanted then fair enough

Don't forget a lot of Coventry fans would also go just to get a football fix. Myself included if in D2 and CCFC have definitely gone.

On your rationale then, the new ground in Exhall is perfectly acceptable, being less than a mile from the Coventry boundary. Is that correct?

Depends on the majority of Cov fans
Otherwise the model wont work.

If the majority of Cov fans are happy to go a mile into Exhall then it will work.

Although saying that I can't see how SISU can borrow 30 million on top of 30-70 million debt we already have. So the location may not be the issue more SISU's maths department not talking to the propaganda department

There would be Coventry fans who would watch Nuneaton at the Ricoh if Coventry were still in Northampton

Like with CCFC
Club/Fans forums
Local newspaper
Internet sites
Supporters groups

It will soon become pretty apparent if the majority of Nuneaton fans agree with the concept or not.

I would have to imagine it would be a scenario where the club could not afford the upgrade and selling the ground and renting the Ricoh was the only alternative.

Then the fans have a choice div2 + Ricoh or conference + Liberty way.

Hell of a lot of ifs and buts before you even get there...

Or they could use Hinckley's ground, which would be acceptable for League Two and cheaper rent and running costs, marginally nearer to liberty way and more appropriate to the size of their crowds...

Sounds like a better solution for them if it is cheaper and closer.

Is it different? If so, how many on here said they won't attend CCFC if it's even a few yards outside the Coventry boundary?

It may be open to discussion but would Nuneaton fans be happy with moving out of their town? 3 miles or 33 miles, surely if it's wrong then it wrong regardless of the mileage?

ecky said:
Torch 3 miles is different to 33 and if it meant getting FL status why not?

Perhaps they will rent the Ricoh while they upgrade their own ground?

All I know is this bunch of muppets running our club have said they are building their own ground, didn't they torch?

So the Ricoh is open to discussion

Imagine if they did get promoted, Cov got relegated, Boro temporarily moved to the Ricoh. CCFC would at least play at the Ricoh once next season .

You will only find out if it is a realistic suggestion. Then gauge the reaction.

I would be surprised if the majority of Cov fans refused to go to Exhall.

But that is irrelevant anyway really

That would be crazy

Would they allow the away supporters to have 25k tickets.

I think it would be a sell out

Why is it? There seems to be stalemate over the Ricoh and if NB move there (though I think that's unlikely) then a new stadium is the only way to go. I agree though, I think the bravado of "I won't go to the new stadium" line is bollocks.

It would be great to see Nuneaton promoted.
I would like to think they would get investment to get the ground up to standard and play their maiden season in League 2 (Division 4 of old).
However, if a temporary arrangement was needed to complete fixtures why not? I.e a season....not an open ended 5 year agreement and no bond attached (a retrospective bond is meaningless to a non viable organisation).

Irrelevant as in I don't think the financial viability is there for SISU to build a new stadium. How do they recoup their money in the long run if they are in debt to the tune of 70-100 million ( depending in which starting point you believe)

In my opinion there is always a choice . How about pump a load more loans into the club , pay it back to themselves through management fees , sell all the players to pay back some more interest etc and the liquidate the lot leaving all that lovely debt in CCFC and walking away with millions .

If they believe ACL are financially secure and can live without CCFC. They will have to come back on a rent deal.
I am sure they will secure cracking terms that they can laud over like a victory.
They just need to lose the JR and see ACL survive.
The quicker these two things happen the quicker we will be back.
Without either of these things we are in for a long haul.

And you rocking delusion in your arms in the Caludon Centre. Promotion for Nuneaton is a long way away. But at the moment it is a realistic possibility....as is relegation for Coventry....so you are either deluded or in denial.....or a betting man with bravado! ;-)

Deluded about what exactly? I've not given my opinion on the matter either way. I just don't think it would be funny if it happened.

I've just checked . Best prices are 40/1 for Nuneaton to be promoted and 25 to 1 for Cov to be relegate . So 1000 / 1 for it to happen in a double . May be worth a couple of quid .

It is unlikely to happen but let's not be dismissive of the possibility (hill83)...but DaleM at those odds I might risk burning a few quid!

Not sure about funny but it would be incredibly ironic if CCFC had to play at the Ricoh as an away team.

They won't because;

Nuneaton will not be promoted
Coventry will not be relegated
Nuneaton will never play at the Ricoh

You are probably right Grendel. But is a possibility at the moment.
