Willie Gibson played for my local team, Weymouth for a long while. Solid left back. Had no idea he'd played for Nuneaton. Cheers for that.

Handed out the youth presentation trophies to my side, Weymouth Wizards, in 1988. I won player of the season and player's player.

No-one likes a bragger but I don't care.

Is this true this was Best's last ever (11-a-side) game?

I went to this as a 6-year old. I have it in my mind that Best played one half and then propped up the social club bar. This may be legend though!

I also saw Nuneaton Borough v Tiswas at some stage. Boro’ treating it very seriously up against the likes of the Phantom Flan Flinger.

I remember seeing George Best sat alone on playa d'en bossa beach in Ibiza one summer's day around 1985 looking forlorn and very very pissed. I was tempted to go and speak to him but through better judgement decided not to and later that same afternoon he staggered past the beach bar where I was working at the time. He was all over the place.
It was really sad to see.

I went to the game and remember George Best played the whole 90 minutes and scored a very dubious winner from the penalty spot. The ground was packed out that night, Nuneaton Borough were in serious financial trouble at the time and this friendly was arranged to help them out. I remember City played their defenders up front (Gary Gillespie for one) and attackers (Mark Hateley, Steve Witton, Steve Hunt) in defence. Great occasion, 3rd time I'd seen George play against us.
