"Coventry, watched by 2,138 away fans - more than turn up to watch home matches at Sixfields - climb to 13th in League One, while Walsall drop out of the top six after their second home defeat of the season."

THIS is the kind of comment that SISU will hate as much as we all do...& it will hurt them as much as it hurts us too (in a different way)

Most companies I have worked for always gather press feedback as they are usually image conscious, it is even easier these days with Google.
Bad publicity does little to encourage investors to part cash with sisu.

I'm talking about investors...serious investors who properly research the areas they invest their serious money in...the kind of money SISU want & need...the kind that when they read that kind of thing start to think twice, seriously - before investing in a company with bad news around them.

Well... having worked closely ith a number of people who do indeed manage such funds... I am no accountant, no expert on Monte Carlo Simulation and the like... but I am aware of the processes.

So no, I never would manage such funds, because I don't have the expertise, either Hedge or Private Equity or derivatives or, well... you name it

I do however see the way such funds are managed however, and whatever happens in the future this has been quite an effective play really.

If you've decided not to come to Sixfields fine but don't think by not going it will change anything, either swallow your pride and come along and get behind Steven and the lads or stop posting silly threads like this when most of us want to talk about the fantastic football, probably the best for the last 15 to 20 years.

Hopefully see you all ( or at least some of you ) at the Notts. County game on Saturday PUSB!

But they are not making a profit are they? The BBC publicity highlights more go away than home, this will not attract SISU investors to fund more losses, nor will it attract people to lend them money to build a ground.
I agree that all they are after is the ground, but if that fails, then they will not hang around making losses year after year.
BTW.. I do have an idea, I am an accountant, and worked for several major national and international companies

Accountants would not have a clue about Monte Carlo either. And neither would most fund managers. Monte Carlo is used to model scenarios, typically to price very exotic derivatives or to calculate the Value at Risk (VaR). It is the domain of the quants (Phd Maths guys who build the valuation models) and the Market Risk guys.

Now talking generally - not at Norman Wisdom. There really is so much tosh talked on here about finance and SISU. Look, please take it from one who knows:

- No, SISU is not happy to make a loss on CCFC. No, there is no magic tax benefit.
- All Joy cares about is money. And it is obvious that she has decided she will make this money by getting the Ricoh on the cheap.
- SISU only cares about success on the pitch if it turns into dosh. If it gets an offer for Joe Bloggs for x million it will take it every day of the week unless it thinks it will make more money by holding on. Our only chance of keeping this team in January is if we are in the top 6 or very close.
- No, SISU is not making a mint or sucking money out of the club. It is losing heavily, and it hates it.

First of all, even if we wanted to we couldn't all 'come along' as the ground isn't big enough.

Secondly, best football for 20 years? As nice as it is to see us winning for once, are you really suggesting that this team is better than the one that beat Man Utd 3-2 on boxing day 1997? The one that had one of the best home records in the premiership in 1999/2000? The one that won 4-1 away at Villa?

Thirdly, if you think any business can lose 90% of its customers and not feel an effect then you are very misguided.

I do feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall sometimes with some posters on here.

IF ITS NOT IN COVENTRY 90% OF US AIN'T INTERESTED.

My support for the club is based on loyalty to 130 years of Coventry history which is now been destroyed.

The fact the team is playing well is irrelevant.

It is funny though how some of the ones who go (not all it has to be said) are getting increasingly desperate for the crowds to rise. They expected us all to go flocking over to sixfields once we started doing well.

They even know themselves that this is unsustainable.

You do know that you can see most of the pitch from the hill and can save yourself £9 which you could spend elsewhere and still see the game. Just mentioning another option not trying to encourage you either way.

I'm not the misguided one, I've carefully listened to many, many others who have the experience of running a football club (including some who've run ours in the past) and whilst hindsight is a fine thing, we cannot 'turn-back' the clock.

Everyone that knows about the 'ins & outs' of running a club is agreed that my club, our club, your club will not survive unless the football club or it's owners actually own the stadium and have access to ALL revenue streams, FACT.

SINCE CCC HAVE REFUSED TO EVEN TALK TO AT LEAST 5 POTENTIAL OWNERS ( who ALL insisted on purchasing the Arena ), it tells me we're never likely to play there again and I personally wouldn't be sorry, sterile and soulless!
We need to move on and if that means a new ground, so be it!

We are where we are either accept it for what it is or don't attend but please shut-up moaning and turning any of the positives into negatives!

Can't really see how you can draw that conclusion, in truth. By any number you want to take, SISU's investment in CCFC has been a financial disaster. I doubt they've lost the £60m they claim, but they've taken a beating hand over fist ever since they've been here, and that's going to continue as long as they stay at Sixfields.

Their only way out now with a profit is to get the Ricoh on the cheap, it seems to me. That doesn't seem particularly likely at the moment, even winning the JR doesn't give them the stadium.

They may have other investments that are doing quite well for them, but hedge funds don't win them all, and I don't think they're even close to making anything on this one. And bad publicity is bad publicity, I can't think of a business in the world that does better for it; presumably they want to look like they know what they're doing to both current and future investors.

No one knows what is sustainable as no one knows who is deciding this investment is a worthwhile consideration.

We do know that the football
League had evidence the losses are to be funded. If these funds are generated by one or two high risk investors who are gambling on a specified endgame then it doesn't matter if 1 or 6,000 are in Sixfields. Indeed if promotion was achieved then much of the speculators funds will be recouped almost immediately.

Crowds mean nothing and negative publicity even less.

I'm pretty sure there's more than one successful club that doesn't own its own stadium.

As for your fact that CCC have refused to talk to at least five potential owners, can you provide some evidence please?

If SISU have moved on from the Ricoh, fair enough and so be it, as you say. i just wonder why they're persisting with the JR, and why there's been no actual movement on the new stadium if that's the case though.

Could you explain please why Coventry City needs to own a stadium when so many other successful clubs don't?

Also, you do realise any new ground will be built on the cheap and therefore will make the Ricoh look like James Brown?
