Always good to admit when your'e wrong SBS.
It is still early days, and it could all still go tits-up for us, but beyond any shadow of a doubt Mark Robins has worked miracles.
When he was appointed manager, I stated on this forum that I thought he was the wrong choice for the job.
HOW WRONG I WAS !
Got to admit, he has been brilliant in all aspects as our manager, and here's hoping he can keep up the good work, keep the players and keep us shooting towards league champions this year and then the Premier thereafter.
Shows how wrong personal opinions can be sometimes. Ah well, we live and - very occasionaly - we learn!
I thought you wanted Chris WilderYep. Fair play to you.
I was very happy when we got him myself. Out of the names on the final apparent shortlist he was the best candidate.
I didn't want Adams and I didn't want Coleman and I didn't want Boothroyd and I didn't want Thorn, so this is the happiest I have been in quite some time on the manager front.

You wouldn't stop quoting his win % at us when he was linked that is for sure

Oh no...you start doing it & all the threads will be blocked up ;-p

pretty sure you dismissed playoffs even after robins had taken over
actually im sure
Tbf though in thorns statement after he was sacked he said he thought who ever took over would get us in the play offs or promotef (cant remember which) so does that mean thorn knew more than robins? You really do have a problem with your ears don't you!!!
For the eleventieth billioneth time ......
1. I said 14th in pre-season.
2. Then Robins came in.
3. We were bottom 4 when he came.
4. Robins upon his arrival said the club was in a mess.
5. Robins on his arrival said it was going to take time to sort everything out.
6. Robins said that there was a lot of work to do to put things right.
7. Robins said the whole club needed a shake-up.
8. Robins said he needed to move a few players on and that the club was in the doldrums and feeling sorry for itself.
I therefore, and quite sensibly in my book, stuck with 14th because of Mark Robins' words, as he was a man I both trusted and admired.
Sensible thing to do was to listen to the man at the helm and that is what I did.
When things started picking up I still heeded his words and with him saying it was going to take some time believed the play-offs were surely a pipe-dream and stuck with 14th because MR said it was going to take time to put things right..
I still 100% stand by what I said. I still think I was right at that time based on the information coming from our manager.
Seems to be that you are intent to keep banging on about this, but I don't believe I was wrong. If anyone was wrong it was Mark Robins, who either overestimated how difficult the task ahead was or has been some kind of genius, or was merely saying all that stuff to get a reaction from the players and squad.
Think every time you mention this about 14th I am going to just keep regurgitating this post. :claping hands:
Very happy to be proved wrong that we won't finish 14th of course, but my prediction was based on the words coming out of our manager at the time, that we were also 4th from bottom and that no other team had ever gone from 4th from bottom to 6th place in the history of League One after 15 games!
At the time it seemed very naive to think about play-offs in my book. And quite rightly so.
You really do have a problem with your ears don't you!!!

you got to feel for all those who stuck money on McDonald to be top scorer at the start of the seasonNow?
I think we can make the play-offs.
On the proviso though that we don't lose any quality players, or if we do we replace them with like for like and that we also strengthen.
I think we need to strengthen because of potential injuries and suspensions to key players that could really hurt us.
And CCFC, I took pretty much everything AT said with a pinch of salt. If I recall correctly he said that Cody McDonald was going to be the league's top goalscorer and that we would 'hit the ground running.'
We certainly hit it hard, I'll give him that.
