In the players first eight appearances...

McGoldrick - 2 Goals
Clarke - 4 Goals
Nouble - 4 Goals

Considering Nouble has been injured in between those 8 appearances and the fact that the Worcester game counted despite his short first half stint in the game, the man has done well.

You have to also take into consideration that Clarke and McGoldrick played in far superior teams than the one Nouble is playing for.

I know it is only 8 games, but the guy seems to love the club already.

Yea, like I said in the other thread if we can get his fitness levels higher and get him to keep buying into the work ethic of the team then we could have one hell of a player on our hands.

Undoubted ability but he has to put the work in every time, not just when he feels like it (or has had a bollocking from SP). Made a difference as sub tonight and scored a special goal, let's see whether he turns it on against Notts County.

Nouble clearly has ability an is a real threat running at defenders. That's his strong point, but he's got his bad points. If he's not on his game he becomes a passenger an can have a lazy approach. But if he applies himself an uses all his attributes what a player he could be! He is clearly a fans favourite an could be loved. Has pressley woken him up to be something better than a footballing flop an archive something out of his career. I think him an madine could well be a strike force to get some goals with Jackson as a impact sub. However both could be back at their clubs in weeks.

Why is Messi so good and worth so much? Nouble does what Messi does for 5 minutes every six games. Messi does what he does for 90 minutes every game.

Mcgoldrick was the classiest of the 3, but Nouble has amazing feet at times for the size of him. But we have zero chance of signing big frank, which is the sad part, even if he wanted to stay, there is no way we could match his wages.... he has raised his profile coming here and scoring the same as Mcgoldrick did. We may have a slim chance of signing Madine, but again not likely... thought he worked very hard last night and glad he got a goal.

SP made some interesting comments last night on CWR about him. Basically said that the only reason he doesn't play at a higher level is because of his work ethic.

He's skill is not a doubt. He was a game changer from the bench last night. The whole team got a lift the second he crossed the white line before he even touched a ball. It was almost like the whole team decided that they could start playing now because there's someone on now who will make things happen.

As I outlined without the ratings thread, I am not sure Noble deserves the hero worshipping he provokes from some supporters.

He scored a fantastic goal last night, but he needed it, if he had not I imagine he would have received the same post match criticism from SP. He was incredibly lazy off the ball last night, again as stated in the ratings thread, I counted three times in the 20 odd minutes he was on the pitch in which the ball was out wide and he ambled towards the box, no desire or will to help his team mates/get into a goal scoring position.

There is a concern the good things he does; last nights goal, motivation half time team talk and subsequent second half performance, overshadow the bad; laziness, Sunday.

There is no doubting he has ability, enough to change games when he wants to, but therein lies the problem, does he want to.

He does have an ego, when he uses it positively it's motivates the team (team talk) when it's negative it's disruptive (Sunday).

For me he is not currently at the level of McGoldrick, an opinion shared by Ipswich as it is DMC's form that ultimately concluded in Noble arriving here.

The above may read as a strong anti-noble post, that is not the intention. Rather it is to add some perspective to the Noble debate.

For us to justify potentially breaking our wage structure to produce an offer anywhere near his reported £18k a week, he needs to do more. Whether it is attitude of fitness, we can do no more than speculate but let's hope those small glimpses of quality we have seen, gradually elongate to produce that quality week after week.

I'm all for Pressley's attitude and passion... but he also needs to give players the opportunity to prove him wrong.

Is there anyway of confirming what his weekly wages actualy are? I'm sure someone on here quoted about 18k the other day but the latest Football Manager, which tends to be quite accurate, has him only earning about 3.5k at Ipswich. If the later is true I'd say we have a shout but again, with a bit of good form, he will atract someone who can out bid us.

I think last night he got a good reception as when he came on you could see the whole attitude of our team change.

You could see when he came on, their defence line were taken back about ten yards straight away.

He gave the team and the crowd a boost.

Hes not a hero or anything but did help.

Football Manager has him on £18k a week, that's where the figure is coming from.
I think we're paying 3.5k of it on the game at least. I can't see him being permanent, but I'm sure we will sign him until the end of the season if he proves himself in the next 2 months.
He's an interesting player, strikes me as lackadaisical whenever I see him, but has that element of unpredictability and a real spark in him.

I don't doubt it's about money, he is a city fan but last night and peterboro he showed quite a bit of passion. Always wants to get the fans going

Nonsense, Messi often disappears for long periods of the game. The difference is Nouble does it against Plymouth and Peteborough, Messi against Athletico Madrid and Real Madrid.

I got the impression listening to his post match interview that he was back tracking a little on what he had said previously in the week. I didn't get the impression that it applied to all the players he was addressing earlier in the week but certainly some, i got the impression that Nouble was one of the players he was bombing out and the fact he played last night confirmed (to me anyway) that he might be rethinking the situation.

That was my interpretation anyway.

I hope that you are right....
You can understand the emotion and anger given the nature of the whole defeat, but if he is going to take the approach of the very public criticism - he is clearly looking for some kind of reaction.

He then has to given them the chance to show if they have taken it on board.

Ill have 2 of what ever you're taking fella!

Im glad hes scored a couple of goals, but lets face it, his 2 runs + deflected finish were nothing like a Messi goal. Even if you ignore the finish, the runs themself look slow, strong and with a fair helping of luck that he actually retained the ball. Id go as far as describing him as a decent L1 striker....comparing him to Messi should get you a call from the Caloudon Centre
