Nope, me too. We are nowhere near ready and our squad is some way off. I have a feeling we're in for a long, hard season battling it out towards the bottom of the table.

We scraped promotion from League Two this season and have hardly strengthened on top of losing 40% of our goals, so yeah, some way off

So apart from a striker where do need to strengthen?

We need two strikers, a goalkeeper, a winger or two, maybe another creative centre midfielder and probably another centre back as most of ours are League Two standard.

Bloody hell

We’ve signed 9 players and let about 3 go and sold one. We also have two attacking midfielders returning having missed most of last season.

We are a striker off a solid top 10 team

Nine players makes us sound like we've strengthened more than we have. Of those nine, one is an unproven attacker from Dulwich Hamlet (7th tier), one is an unproven centre midfielder from Lewes (7th tier), one is an 18 year old centre back from Mickelover Sports (7th tier), one is a kid from Watford who has played 3 senior games, one is a kid from Brentford whose played 8 senior games and one is JCH who was here last season. So in reality, we've made three signings that actually strengthen our side and two of them were made in positions that weren't problem areas (right back and defensive midfield). Forgive me at not being ecstatic over this very underwhelming transfer window, but if we're relying on minimal strengthening and blind hope that players coming back from serious injury is going to make the difference this season then I think we're going to end up very disappointed.

Apologies for being realistic rather than looking at the situation through sky blue tinted glasses. Obviously we have the best squad in the league and the title is as good as ours. Messiah Robins can do no wrong and we don't need to worry about the fact the players we have on our books scored about 20 goals last season because Golden Boy Ponticelli will have become peak Ronaldo over the course of the summer.

Can't wait. Going to be a good season I reckon, feeling positive. But the pub we all drink in is closing soon for 10 weeks I hear, being done out. The Three Horseshoes next to the fire station. I drink in the Wheatsheaf anyway but my mates aren't keen on it, so maybe the Cherry Tree ? Good boozer.
