are we in for another summer like 2009? hope of quality signings only to have players like dann and fox sold then struggling to get a team together for the start of the season,
too many rumours of jukebox, clinghan and turner being sold at the mo for my liking (although they r just rumours) but theres no smoke without fire! :thinking about:

I thought Turner signed a 3 year deal last season.

I fear it's more likely to be ANY price rather than the right price given the hints we've been getting from the board.

I think the better performances and the appearance of the messiah on twitter made everyone forget that we are still in financial doo doo and any player who attracts interest could be on their bikes. Still would put money on turner going

He'll probably have to prove his fitness first. He really does have a terrible injury record, to the point where at the end of the 2009/10 season I think he himself thought he might be finished. Since then he's had another 6 month injury and hasn't played a game in 2011.

One thing's for sure, if someone did make an offer now it'd be for much less than we'd get if he was in the team playing like he was before his injury. He's the sort of cheap gamble someone like Blues will be looking at (ring any bells?). Possibly the worst case scenario is he goes for 500k then blossoms into the Premiership standard player we know he can be. Or alternatively we reject it and he never again scales the heights of last season, leaving us with an crocked player on a 3 year contract. The best situation perhaps being that we get the money for him then he barely plays again due to injuries.

Cold and dispassionate perhaps, but it's hard not to imagine our owners looking at it that way.

I think it will be a clear test of the attitude of the 'new' board if we shipped off some of these key players, yes everyone has a price but if we are eveer serious about moving out of the damn league we cannot continue with this way of working.

Well we have the same owners as we had in 2009 and they are now even less inclined to put money into the club. So -absent a change of ownership - I reckon this Summer will be worse than it was two years ago.

No offence, but I've always detested this expression.

All clubs are selling clubs. Every player has their value and no board would turn down an offer that meets or exceeds that.

It's a bit of a misnomer to me.

"Selling club" is annoying, but it doesn't infuriate me in the way other terms like "sleeping giant" or "massive club" do.

When you said not another summer like 2009, I at first thought you were talking about the sh*t weather, but then realised its about our transfer policy.

The thing is a lot of players are away, contracts are just coming to an end, and there is still a way to go until the season starts. I will reserve my own judgement until then. Lets face it we havent got a great deal of cash to splash out, so i am sure Thorn will have his targets, within finacial constraints, and will be working on getting them.

Fair point. I'm actually guilty of this one myself, so I will try and refrain from using it.
