Simms get goals when supplied with chances, that’s what he offers to the team and it’s perhaps the most valuable attribute in a striker. Lewandowski and Haaland are two strikers that look like they’re doing v little if they’re not scoring (on international duty, for example). They’re not particularly influential outside of the box.

The same applies to Simms, if you want him to run around like a headless chicken as Bassette and BTA does, he’s not the striker for you.

In terms of open play goals, he was our top scorer and scored more than BTA and Bassette combined.

He can't twist and turn past a defender in the box to get a shot off.
He hasn't got a turn of pace in the box.
In fact he doesn't naturally want to go in the box.
He can't control the ball well.
He can't hold off a player and lay the ball off well for assists.
He hasn't got a great shot on him.

So what are his strengths besides running a channel if the ball is nicely delivered In front of him?
Does he 'make something happen'?

Having said that Bassette isn't working and I'd give Simms more game time.
