If Stokes is fit, then bring him in ahead of Haynes. If we're gonna get out of this, we might as well gamble on his fitness because any great escape act will be based primarily on tightening up at the back before nicking the odd goal.

I'd also throw them a curve-ball by starting with both Rose and Foley, but with Rose at RB (he's done OK at RWB so can slot in at RB) with Foley in CM, which I believe he has done well in the past. OK he's 32 so not the most mobile, but this will have 4 advantages:
1 - an experienced player who is tough in midfield, using his know-how to shield the defence and distribute thee ball forwards, letting his midfield partner get forward
2- on the teamsheet with both Rose and Foley, NTFC will assume that Foley is right back so we'll get the advantage of surprise in implementing our game plan
3 - Rose probably better at overlapping than Foley anyway so we'll ideally have better end product on the right; and
4- perhaps most important, we'd have a real "spine" in the team, with Clarke at the back, Foley in front of him, Beavon in front of him.

Therefore:

Burge
Stokes
Clarke
Willis
Rose

Reid
Foley
Stevenson
Jones

Beavon
Vernam

That does look a solid team. I'd be surprised if we get beat tomorrow. I'll be there and I'll make a point of offering odds to my mate who goes to every game assuming we're gonna lose (and who therefore has been portraying himself as a sort of Mystic Meg character for the last 3 months).

Sorry Oucho but Rose at WB and better delivery, really?
Where has there been evidence of this previously?

Not sure on that formation? TM tried to play a narrow attacking strategy, which in itself didn't work, especially as Reid is very much a winger and nothing else. Equally if it is intended to be Rose/Reid on the wings, I am not a fan of Rose out there. He offers energy but lacks the technical ability or awareness of a winger.

Also not sure on Rawson at LB? Based on his debut he doesn't look particularly comfortable on the ball and I don't see him offering an outlet, or pushing forward. I appreciate it does means a defence consisting of four six footers which should be solid.

Finally, I'd play RCC over Burge. He will be high on confidence after the cup game, and that is something we desperately need.

I like the strikers though!

3-0 City, our luck changes today, I can feel it!

At 5pm I'll be too drunk to remember that!

Can't believe how quiet this thread is, three hours before kick off.

I wonder if the Wycombe and (hopefully) Wembley threads will be?

The Swansea thread was eerily quiet until we conceded.

Lose today and I fear we're done and dusted as far as survival is concerned. Northampton's form is atrocious and have this week lost 2 of their most important players to injury. Gutted I'm not there with the 1,500 strong SBA. Sing loud and proud boys and bring those 3 points home. We need them now more than ever!

All big games now. If we're going to give ourself a chance of staying up we need to start picking up points quickly.

Lets hope the cup win has got them going, get a win today and get some confidence back in the side.

Looking at the line up with effectively four strikers, it's almost like he's thought fuck it, might as well have a go from the start

Don't think so, think it's just a 3-4-1-2
