Are we spending too much money after years of paltry investment?! The wage bill must be phenomenal

Bit before my time - Obviously I know of Roussell but was only made aware that Clement even played for us after he got the Rangers gig

Funnily enough I was in Gent in Belgium over the summer and a local recognised my top purely for the fact they flogged Roussell to us

I do hope this does not end like Preston buying Bayliss. Promising star costs money, languishes in the U21's, doesn't fulfill his promise, sold at a loss 3 years later.

The key thing is how much of the fee is upfront as that is the risk element.

Be interesting to see how Robins manages their minutes this year. Im sure this lad will have been promised decent game time.

Forgot about Moussa, but tbf didn't even know he was Belgian

He completely tailed off after leaving us he was quite sought after during the Sixfields season as well

It's possible, but that's the risk. I suppose the Hamer money pays for circa 6 more risks. Just need 1 to come off.

Its starting to look like @Saddlebrains comment of Justin Obikwugong out on loan may come to fruition now that this lad has come in

Only at Coventry could fans be worried we’ve signed Belgium U20’s starting striker

He’s got injured, don’t know severity. Was lined up to go on loan to Northampton I believe.

Judging by his twitter post it sounds like it could keep him out for some time as well

Would be a real shame. It feels like a proper load this season could be his breakout. Such a shame when young players get injured at this time of the season.

Next big thing was Delorge, reading couple of books, think he was basically dumped in flat and left to own devices - then had nasty leg break.

he was another great hope gone!

Just wondering if anyone from the club has popped round his house and taken a look at his ceiling?
I know a few posters on here seem to have a weird obsession about ceilings

Shame for Justin if thats true. I thought he looked decent pre-season and to get injured just when things start to get going is extremely bad luck for the lad. I hope he comes back and picks up the reigns where he left off.

if we do ever look at moving to a 442 you would need 4 strikers

Is this some modern fancy bollocks of a "reverse 442", like a "false 9"??

A further thought that 3 out of 4 signings are a bit left field. Rudoni makes complete sense - O'Hare replacement. But

- EMC, a marquee signing, plays on the left where we already have a marquee signing
- BTA is a midfielder in a side now choc full of midfielders (unless Palmer goes)
- Fred Bassett - another striker.

I know nothing about transfer strategy

However the variable we tend not to take enough account of is 'availability'. Is the player we want available? Maybe the right defensive midfielder prepared to play 2nd fiddle to Sheaf is not available. But an additional striker who we will probably need in 12-24 months time is. So that is who gets bought.

Correct. Unsure if it will happen now which is a shame as I think he could do well in L1
