Truth is none of us really knows what's going on...yes it's a sad day to lose Callum, but it was always going to happen...and the question I'm asking myself is 'why would we be looking to sign a couple of wingers if Pressley hasn't got a plan'? I believe he does have a plan and a suitable replacement for Wilson for those wide men to supply. Wouldn't make any sense otherwise. Strangely I'm quietly optimistic, particularly because it appears that our manager is still so enthusiastic under the circumstances. The next few days could be quite interesting!

I think Callum would be better off playing regularly for us next season and if we don't get promoted move on then.

He'd be in a better position to secure a deal with a bigger club that would benefit him long-term.

Seen so many come and go over the years, we just have to get on with it! PUSB!

Most of us don't have a problem with 3m for Wilson. The issue is non will be reinvested at we have no strikers at the club. It's so worrying.

That's a reply for another thread...what I'm asking here is...why would SP be investing in wingers if he doesn't have a plan...your thoughts?

this will be the real year of judgement for SP. If he is allowed say £1m to build a squad - on top of original budget - in the 3rd division we would need a strong top half finish
anything less, and i think his days would be numbered
Top 6 would be a massive success

I'm in two minds. £3 million for a league 1 player after him having only 1 full season under his belt (2 months of that injured) is just too good to turn down but in normal circumstances that would buy 4-5 decent players for this level. But we know it won't be reinvested much. On the other hand I am gutted. He is home grown, came out and said he wants to stay for now, why not keep him 1 more year. He is the sort of player that can get you out of this league. With him gone we are fucked.

Seriously though 3m is enough to make a real promotion push with change for the owners but we will be lucky to see 500k.

I agree. We have a very good young hungry manager. I do trust him even though tbf more than a few signing last year were horrendous. That said I agree he will be better for it and at 40 he is a baby manager. He will be a top manager in this country and will leave us before the end of 2014 when first round of managers get sacked in sep/oct.

He may well have a plan for sure but money and desire will dictate if it comes off. Wilson may be the straw that breaks the camels back. He surely and hopefully must of said I want half of that 3m myself or else I'm off guys. Surely?

I admire your optimism and sincerely hope the next few days could be interesting, as if not I feel I am losing the love of the game.

I am sure I am not alone in being truly at the lowest ebb in my time supporting the club, as I cant see where we go from here?

We are selling off the silver, lock stock and barrel and although I acknowledge we have done it before, we usually had some plan B, whereas now we dont even have a plan A. Pressley is unlikely to get the cash, and we still have the worlds most inept toss-bag owners that the league has ever seen, who would rather ponce about in the press and put all their effort in trying, and failing badly, to win court cases, rather than trying to win matches, and who have alienated the majority of the fanbase and moved us away from our home.

In all I am not optimistic and cannot see where we go from here?

If someone can please explain to me how SISU aim to keep running the club at a loss, with fekk all revenue, and keep charging it extortionate fees, and then expect to get their investment back I would be pleased to know, as far from being hard nosed hedge fund operators they are increasingly looking like a bunch of muppetts. Someone should remind Joy that you cant polish a turd, but then looking at Fisher I am sure she fully well know that.

You think Pressley has a plan to bring in a striker before the season starts because we've just signed a winger? No shit, he's hardly going to start the season with just a 17 year old kid up front is he ffs?

This is the final straw for SP. Either he gets half the Wilson fee or he walks. (When I say walks I mean another club paying compo for him) he would never walk as he wouldn't get paid but as soon as the interest comes in from a low championship club like last year with millwall et al then bye Coventry.

I genuinely think he loves Coventry but with sisu and the circumstances then even us die hard fans are losing faith let alone him. A genuinely talented manager who I really like. When some said last year he hasn't worked a miracle keeping us in the league need their heads testing.

He will go before 2014 is out. Next 3 weeks is huge in the clubs future. With the appeal and costs to be decided today ist looks so bleak. But can you imagine a short term rent deal and signing 11 new players. Come August 1st it could be so different with the Wilson money. I live in hope. All I have left.

A £3m lightning quick striker?

Dream on.

He'll get a striker in; most likely a journeyman or a third rate loan signing, but can't see how that can be called a suitable replacement.

Looking of those first five or six fixtures I don't share your optimism.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if SP got the boot before Xmas.

Don't get me wrong, it's not something I want to see because A) I like SP and B) it will mean that we're in a relegation scrap.

Sisu don't do taking the blame so when we're languishing at the bottom of the table it will be solely SP's fault and not the toxic environment that doesn't promote success created by sisu.

I ain't saying this will happen, just I wouldn't be surprised.

Dollars to donuts Pressley's plan never included Wilson this season. None of us expected him to be here, why would Pressley.

Frankly, for all we know it could be him that put the pricetag on.

The fact is the owners have categorically stated that they have the funds to run the team for the period we are at Northampton and so they can not use the excuse of having to 'fund the club' to keep all of the money from the sale of Wilson.

They have also been banging on about needin access to match day revenue so improve the team as a reason for revising to return to the Ricoh, even when playing there for free. Well, under the FFP rules they now have about 2 million to reinvest in the team. So do just that. If they are truely interested in building a squad for promotion and have real faith in Pressley then have have a real chance to regain a fraction of credit with the fans.

Its not spending the money to get 4/5 players in, its their wages that will be the problem! you are not going to get the sort of players we need on the wages we can afford. i feel there will be a Couple of Season long loans this year.

We had a dreadful 2nd half of the season after Clarke left, Moussa has gone,Wilson is almost certainly gone, that is circa 50 goals from last season. Effectively 46 away games, virtually no 'home' support and a paper thin squad,and you are quietly optimistic. You have to ask what exactly would make you pessimistic?

You don't have a clue what the future holds but keep telling everyone they are wrong. And when you are talking about SISU looking into the past will give you a good idea on what will happen in the future whilst they are still with our club.

Well the goals Clarke/Wilson/Moussa scored is a proven fact. Since we now have no strikers left at all, then he clearly needs to acquire more than 1 striker. Obtaining proven goalscorers is a hugely difficult task for most clubs in normal circumstances. In our situation it becomes nearly impossible, unless he drops lucky beyond belief. I'm sure he can obtain players,as there are 100's of released players out there. However why would any club release any proven goalscorer. Look how many forwards he brought in last season,none of them really worked. Using the old hackneyed phrase, if you pay peanuts you get .........
We are a car crash of a club, Pressley has openly admitted that playing at Sixfields is a disadvantage in attracting new players. When does blind optimism slide into utter delusion.

So why keep telling people that they are wrong when you admit you don't have a clue?

Like I said his striker of choice could have been Wilson. SISU made all the right noises about keeping him. This would mean that he hasn't got a striker in mind that he can sign. But no you keep saying why would he sign two wingers.
