Last night in the city centre the pubs were serving drinks in plastic glasses, and the two I went in were full of young girls and student types. They drink weird looking drinks of all sorts of colours, and a lot were more busy during the match looking at their phones than at the screens. To be honest I prefer watching games with proper football fans, as many last night were there more for the occasion than the game I felt.

I'm the same, not that fussed about watching it in the pub.

If City play an away game on Sky will just go round a mates to watch it with a few beers.

we went the pub for the France/Belgium SF........no face paint, no sillyness, no poor bar etiquette......just about 20 blokes enjoying beer & football......

....stayed well clear of pubs & "fanzones" last night......I'd rather stick pins in my eyes....

I’ve always watched down the pub but I’m going to rethink it going forward for exactly the reason bringbackrattles outlined.
Wednesday night I was in a pub watching the game surrounded by people eating chicken wings, standing in front of the tv, laughing histerically at each other and generally sat around waiting for big moments such as goals to engage their blipvert minds.
The final whistle goes, i sink head in to hands and in the darkness i felt the hopes and dreams drift away thinking of the good times we’d had this past month and even thoughts of italia 90 and the unstoppable passage of time.
Eventually after this moment of closure and phsycological healing i lifted my head from hands and the first thing i see is a millenial filming me on his ‘device’

I’m going to watch at home from now on, i just have some how convince the mrs my mates won’t spill beer on the carpet or scare the cat.

Throw your pint at him.

1. He would think you were cool for throwing beer
2. You could inflict some damage on him

2 birds.

How do you know they weren't watching the game unless you also wasn't and was watching them? Pervo Or it could have been SW88 in drag reporting on the game. Also by funny looking drinks, do you mean not bitter?
