That is partially correct, BSB, it wasn't meant to be a Christmas song, but it did actually get to number 3 in December 1980 and does indeed have that Christmassy feel to it.

I think of this probably because of the Diamonds are for Heather OFAH Christmas special (Series 2 or 3)

I don't know why people saying Stay Another Day is a Christmas song annoys me so much. Triggered every time.

Haha, I realised you can play all the videos on this page at the same time. Sounds like a Scottish zombie bagpipe orchestra

Eva Cassidy - Fields of Gold.

It was used on a Cancer Research advert around the same time my Grandad died of cancer at Christmas.

A real Christmas cheery one!

Wasn’t it a song for a brother that had died? I don’t know which band members brother tho.

Tony Mortimers brother. Quite a poignant song when you know the story behind it

It's a great track, I think synth pop was the last great British music movement really

I remember being at my grandparents house in Green Lane on Boxing Day in 1971 & this was the Christmas number 1. We always went to their house on Boxing Day as it was my grandma's birthday & we got our presents from them & my auntie. Me and my 2 older brothers were always banished to eat our dinner on a picnic table in the verandah!

A girl I was at school with had this played at her funeral (was the first funeral I’d ever been to) after she was killed in a car crash by some c**t who was trying to show off whilst she was in the back. She was only 15.

Anyway Merry Christmas.

This always gets a play around my abode today. The piano riff in the middle is sublime. This song screams Christmas to me.

Merry Christmas all!

Edit- Might as well do the whole hog.
