This policy of not discussing injured players injuries and expected absence time, is all a bit shit for us fans isn't it. We desperately need Haji back in the fold but have no idea what he's done (barring knowing he folded his ankle) and how long he is expected to be out for.

@Sky Blue Pete tell them it's a bit shit please mate.

Was hilarious when Robins cited GDPR as a reason for not being to say what was wrong w Wilson. Especially when King flagrantly told the world that Lampard had applied for a job with us during an apparently open process.

Asked if he can say what the keeper has done, the manager said: “No, I have been told I can’t do it, got to stop doing it. It’s data protection.”

You're either wrong or playing bullshit semantics. GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Surely it also depends on the player and their injury?

Data protection doesn’t only mean it’s for GDPR reasons? I imagine it’s tactical to deny opponents info.

Bullshit semantics it was then. I imagine the details of an injury to Ben Wilson would prove absolutely pivotal in any tactical preparation so your point makes complete sense.

The club has done fuck all about the leaks, the full time line up was on here in advance every week and only stopped because people on here complained about it.

Not sure they've decided telling us any injury details is the thing worth keeping confidential while everything else leaks out with no issue.

Just a difference of opinion. I don’t see why it would be GDPR related when almost every other club discloses similar and are subject to the same regulation.

Have a day off, it's well understood that Data Protection in common use means compliance with data protection laws, i.e. GDPR and DPA 2018

I mean I just don’t understand why that would be the case since all clubs are subject to the regulation and I’m not aware of any others doing similar.

No-one is suggesting it makes sense. We are saying it’s ridiculous that we were asked to believe that the reason for not disclosing Wilson’s injury was “data protection”.

Why would we be shouting our players injuries from the roof top? Only benefits other clubs. If Haji is fit for Millwall I'd rather they spend all week thinking they're coming up against Bassette or Simms only to find out at 2pm on Sat.

So just say he lost a bollock in a freak cooking accident, why not just say its his ankle?
Why come out with this data protection stuff? It's pretty strange

We agree then.

But again, data protection doesn’t just mean GDPR.

There could be many reasons for this. And the argument that other clubs do it so it must be ok makes no sense. It comes down to a legal basis for processing the personal data of players, and medical data is special category so has more protection.
The legal basis would most likely be consent which means each player makes their own decision about what is released. It is possible that some clubs might argue legitimate interests but this has a few challenges when talking about medical data, and also the clubs legitimate interests in this regard could never trump the players legitimate interests where medial data is concerned.

Thus endoth the lesson on DPA and GDPR.

Same with Sakamoto last year - he wouldn’t disclose the specifics. I think the only time we knew was when tats said it himself in the video diary thing.

I’m not sure the fans wanting to know is a good reason for providing more details.

If I’m honest I rarely care about the specifics on the Injury and much more interested in how long they will be out.

Yeah I was joking really. It just seems to have changed this season and it annoys me not knowing when we have a chance of next winning a game by outscoring the opposition.

Considering Wilson will be out of contract at the end of the season, it might have been his request not to have it disclosed.

I would assume Wilson declared he did not want the info released whereas in most cases no one bothers to sign the box to indicate that

What's the conspiracy today?

It's been known for weeks that this injury was a Knee Ligament injury?

When he is fit I'm sure he will play - what more do you need to know?

One alternate is to play him when he is not fit.
Second alternative is to say he will be fit next week, then when next week comes say actually he isn't fit yet.

Would the alternatives make you feel better?
