I took a picture of Whelan at the charity game at our home a few months back and recently I have just started to edit and sort a lot of pictures I have taken of Coventry for a big set I am working on. I came across this picture I took of Whelan exiting the Ricoh pitch and thought I would pop it here. I hope nobody minds.

Good photo. What have you done to the colour - it's interesting.

Great photo. Whelan had the ability to be a world beater. Scored the best goal I've seen by a city player against Southampton in 96

If he is using lightroom I'd say he has wacked up the clarity slider.

Disagree. The light is perfectly exposed, but the colours have been photoshopped in some way so it looks more like a painting.

Yes I messed with the clarity setting and took some colour out leaving the sky blues behind. Also used Lightroom for this effect.

Loving your work Fluffsta, any more CCFC photos that you've done?

Lots of ability and natural talent, dedicated on the pitch, but unfortunately not off it! That is why he never fulfilled his potential.

To be fair, if he'd fulfilled his potential, we wouldn't have had him to see it. Always like Noel in a loveable rogue kind of way.

I agree, I loved watching him play. As I posted I thought I should qualify that point

Cracking photo of a great player.

For all his madness I loved Whelan who seemd to have a genuine passion for the club. I remember him being suspended for a game and him being in the stand and belting the Sky Blue Song out with the rest of the fans like it meant something to him. A genuine nice bloke as well
