unless Mowbray get's a positive result at Fleetwood... tonight's result is shocking ! equally as bad as when Pressley was in charge, the last time we played there ! a gateway to Wembley, only to throw it away-shocking !

Think that's been proven beyond doubt that I was more than correct re Pressley. however, I'm more than happy to embarrass you once more ...

We didn't have our best defence play.

We didn't have our best midfield play.

We didn't have our best strike force play.

We kept a clean sheet and only lost on penalties.

What a fookin disgrace. Let's all moan like demented twats and call for TM'S head

Calm yourself. We kept a clean sheet with our B team out and should have been a few goals ahead in the 1st half. priority one is always the league!

Seems to me that all that was lacking was a killer instinct in front of goal. We were missing our top goal scorer. You have to believe that had Armstrong been playing we would have won.

Can't see how last night can be compared to when Pressley was in charge, because this was very much a second string 11 last night.

just like when a premier league team plays their 2nd string in the cup and loses to a league 1 team
all the top teams have done it
TM has prioritised promotion, and so far so good

TM has actually said though that players were injured. This includes Fortune and Stokes. Vincelot, he says had an op in the summer and needed resting. Reda, we know needs treating carefully.

It seems TM was kinda forced into changes rather than set out to deliberately select a second string 11.

I would say the concerns we do have are:

1. Without Armstrong our attack seems a lot more powder puff.

2. Philips is seemingly going backwards.

3. Haynes continues not to impress.

4. Murphy's performances are very inconsistent. Unstoppable one week, out of sorts the next.

5. Tudgay is not a natural finisher.

Seems to me that the key players to our success are Ricketts, Reda, Vincelot and Armstrong. Have a combination of those players missing and we struggle.

If Fortune is still injured for Saturday I think we will struggle to get a result. In saying that though, a draw would be a good point for us I would reckon.

Missing chances is the concern for me, every match home or away good chances are being missed and it has cost us points and 2 cup ties, that isn't Mowbray's fault but maybe he has to look at it, we still don't score anywhere near enough from midfield

We had 13 shots again last night and 7 on target. Our goals to shot ratio is worrying.

JOB always seems able to chip in with a few goals from midfield, but at the moment he appears to be badly out of form and Fleck has never scored enough.

The OP has a point though. I went last night and expected a win even with a b team. First half was ok, 2nd half was shocking.

Worrying again away from. Last 3 aways = 0 wins 1 draw and 2 loses scored 1 in that time. Saturday we need a pick me up big time.

Against a poor league 2 team. Away form is worrying and our performances away are completely different to how we play at home. Worries me.

What weird logic. Do you always judge a performance based on how we play in the following game?! And it was hardly a gateway to Wembley, more like the start of a massive tunnel. Whereas you make it sound like we just lost in the semi final again.

this is the worry for though isnt it ?

for me, im not arsed about the result last night but i do worry that without armstrong i never feel confident of winning. take him & kent out of the side and we do seem to be a nearly team... that is a little worrying ( just to re-iterate , im not arsed about last night & this is in no way a slight on mowbray... its simply an evaluation of our squad when you take armstrong / kent out )

The worry for me is not the defeat last night but the fickle fans now moaning and comparing mowbrey to sp. no wonder we cant get better attendances with such pathetic minded supporters. Give tm a chance ffs hes only just started the rebuild from years of shit. Last night is a tin pot trophy and the league is a priority. If your that desperate to go to wembley this year go support man u or something

We're obviously unique in having some key players. Not like every time has a core of key players, is it?

Yep, very true. The problem for me is the reliance on Armstrong for goals.

No need for the over reaction. It's a penalty shoot out loss in the JPT cup. No big deal although always disappointing.

Fleetwood is he big one now with added spice. Lose that and I'm more annoyed by a long chalk.

Last night was just a blip of many already we have had but you can't win every game.

Exactly, stupot.

What you have in your locker when you have a potent goal scorer like Armstrong in your team, is the ability to score goals even when you are not playing well. Players like him can win you matches for you almost single handedly.

What we apparently had last night was a team in complete control in the first half, but with no-one to stick the ball in the back of the net. We have already seen on a few occasions Tudgay missing gilt-edged chances. He's not your typical 20 goal a season goal poacher.

I know a lot of people on here have said we have enough striking options, but I disagree. Tudgay is not a goal poacher, nor is Fortune and nor is Murphy. Thomas is probably still too raw and then was talk of maybe TM sending him out on loan somewhere.

We then have Lateef. I have no idea whatsoever as to whether he could be an answer.

I would say we could do with another goal poacher in our fold. I know Armstrong misses the odd game here and there, but what if he gets injured?

so we were without
armstrong/ kent/fortune/maddison/Reda/Vincelot sorry - that is a massive talent bank (and arguably 6 of our 8 best players)
and even if some are loans - TM stated he would use the loan system this year, and because he is doing it well, when some of them go back, he will hopefully bring in just as good replacements

I think by the end of the season we will be there or thereabouts - and have had an enjoyable season on the whole
No we wont win every match, which is what some think we should do - but we will have enjoyed the ride

Maybe if people bought official merchandise rather than cheap imitations, sticking the club crest on, we could invest more into the playing squad, eh Bob?

Just a thought....
