The under 23 manager. He's not a first team signing, he's a development player.

Indeed, as I say I expect he’s a target. Means nothing though if he chooses Pompey (or another).

Normally that's bad news but Bright was at our game a few days before joining Wigan. Kane was on loan at Doncaster last season so maybe a parallel?

Mates with Matty Blair I think... think he's been at Donny on loan previously...
I know that ourselves and Portsmouth are in for him on loan... not sure if today also means that Donny are now too....
(Bright was watching us last week though wasn't he!) ......

After watching the team yesterday, I feel the two areas of recruitment that need attention are finding right back cover for Fankaty Dabo and somebody in central midfield who can do offensively what Liam Kelly does defensively. Hopefully Jamie Allen will do that, but I'd like to have another player of that calibre as well to add strength and depth to the squad.

Luckily from what Robins says that’s what he thinks too.

I think it's clear we need more depth a CM, one injury and we are down to Eccles as the back up. I think he will have a decent career, but would like somebody who can affect the he game now. So hopefully we can get someone in soon.

The out and out right back is Hickman, but let's face it he's done here. MR seems to see Pask as mainly a RB but he's spent most of his career as CB. Plus he's injured until November-time. After that he's played Jordon Thompson there but again he's always been a CB and is out on loan.

After that you're into the academy. Second years Blaine Rowe can play there and 1st year is a lad called Adam Taylor who's yet to feature. First two academy games seem to have had schoolboys playing there.

We've got loads of depth at CM!

Kelly
Allen
Westbrooke
Shipley
Eccles
Maycock
Bosma
Bartlett

+ we've just signed a lad called Young but I think he's more of an attacking midfielder.

Maybe you could argue we could do with a bit more quality and a few of those could do with being moved on, but as Allen hasn't featured yet and then you'd have one of Shipley or Westbrooke dropping out and both are adequate as back-up at this level. After that MR'd probably want Eccles to get a few minutes.

I think if we are going to make signings CM isn't the biggest priority.

I do agree that I think we need a proper back up RB.

I know the team. But as I said we are packing quality at CM.
You responded to your own point. At least 2 of those need moving on. Bartlett and Eccles will not get us promoted if we get a serious injury and they have to start every week. I think they are okay back up, but I don't want them to be the main option off the bench. And then you have to take into account suspensions and niggles. We have decent youngsters but a loan like Kane will be vital imo. Imo Westbrooke is not ready start every week. He is a good first back up, but as I say one injury and he's a starter. Add to that Eccles is a CDM, he wouldn't be effective further forward.
