I think Robins was being deliberately obtuse in the interview. He alluded to having spent the budget and not bringing anyone else in but then in almost the same breath said that he would love to do more business and 2 players may be leaving the club which would free up funds. I believe he also said that the sale of Bayliss had more than freed up enough funds to sign Godden. I suspect the budget may have been a bit fluid this window anyway as it was reasonable to expect both Madison and Wilson to move on, neither of which happened in the end so earlier comments he made about wanting x amount of players were probably contingent on those sell-on clauses coming in

Robins is very good at being deliberately obtuse. One more reason why our owners like him

Our squad is now quite large, so we have to live with it.
It's up to Robins to turn water into wine from now on. I would rather have a loan right back but understand if Robins sticks to Dabo & Pask. I want to see the Under 23 guys coming through, there are 4 or 5 on the cusp, of which you would think two could cut the mustard. That could make the very difference that Bayliss and Shipley did two years ago.

People have been saying for a long time we need a two year plan, and carry some continuity over to the next season, now we have a great base to build on if we miss out on promotion this season.

Hmmm... a last day addition after Doyle's departure, who was so unbelievably unfit... Yep, that will be why!

Bottom line is the club needed to sell bayliss and chaplin to balance the books. They reportedly got 3m for the two. Buying godden 750k which maxed the budget out indicates to me that they were around 1m short of the scmp budget criteria.

People need to keep in mind that aside from wages around 4m (all employees) the club needs to find other operating costs of at least 3m. Those costs are paid from the same income pot as the player wages and transfers.

Income pot restricted by the move to Birmingham and put under pressure by increased costs.

It has been said this years rent is 300k but what about match day expenses have they increased by a similar multiple?

Not sure it was a panic. Was a player proven at a much higher level, at an age where he should be in his prime. Appreciate it didn't work out but I'm sure they have plans in place for all eventualities, and I'd imagine they'd planned for Doyle moving on.

I think we get a pretty good portion of the F&B revenue, OSB58. Not sure about car park revenue.

Is that before or after the direct costs that need to be deducted though. Scmp is after deduction of those costs. Plus crowds are small in the scheme of things

I do not see how it can be big net income figures despite what Boddy said. F&B making that much differences doesn't seem possible

I’m not sure what more some fans want we’ve brought in good players for money now we have people moaning about that being it and no loans

I would think boddy and co are breathing a big sigh of relief that they sold Chaplin and Bayliss with front loaded agreements.

Only issue with that is that we don't play with a number 10.

What would a number 10 have done different to Westbrooke, Kelly and Shipley did today?

Lol. Being able to turn more than 90 degrees would be a start. Being able to run past a player.

Defence splitting balls and runs that turn back 4. I’m sure bright or Baylis, with or without the ball, would have turned their defence and created more opportunities.

Do you have to have a number 10 on your back to do that ?

We are definitely lacking in the final third, exactly as we were last season before Bright joined. To me, Westbrook, Shipley, Hiwula and Baka arnt good enough to open defences up regularly.
Allan and Godden will be vital, but I feel we need another option in on loan, at least until Jones or Wakefield are fit.

I don't think you can make this conclusion with the information at hand can you? Can you post your workings please, given that the 60% rule does not apply for transfer fees.

From his interview it sounds like we may bring in 2, one of which will be cover at RB as Pask is injured.

Wasn't clear whether it would be the RB or the other one that is due to sign in the next day or so.

May be wrong on this but Robins has had a habit in the past of ruling us out for people who the media have reported that we aren’t interested in. His unwillingness to name names suggests to me that Kane is a target.
