No Go For Martins Or Orozco

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley is unlikely to be pursuing his interest in either Fabio Martins or Daniel Orozco.

Portuguese winger Martins, showed some neat touches against Fleetwood and played well last night in the 3-2 win at Mansfield Town whilst Spanish defender Orozco did not impress in the first half he played at the One Call Stadium before limping off.

City boss Steven Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: "Fabio showed flashes of quality but whether or not I am going to pursue that I don't know.

"I have been pretty definite about the type of player I am looking for in that position but I don't think he quite carries that DNA that I am looking for; that really electrifying pace.

"He is a very special football player, there is no doubt about that and obviously Danny Orozco came in and unfortunately got injured. But I appreciate him flying over for the one game and he's certainly one I don;t think we will be pursuing but he showed a real desire to get a contract by flying over and playing in a game and returning home tomorrow."

It must suck for these trialists, out of work and going to different countries to find a new club.

He definitely seems to be ruling out Orozco, undecided on Martins.

It's good to know he's not just going to hand out contracts for the sake of it. He's clearly been given a pretty tight budget so it's imperative that he uses whatever money he's given on the right players.

Yep, undecided on Martins, but Covmad have taken that as a no go for some strange reason.

We won't be getting any new players guys, come on! wake up! SP has been "Stitched up" by SISU.

I hope he tries to get Martins! For a 20 year old he looked half decent! Always looking for the ball, few classy touches, dragging it away from defenders, wanting to go forward, not afraid t have a go himself (even if he should have maybe done better with yesterday's chance he was presented with. Done well to get in that position in the first place!).

I do think he'd be a good acquisition for us.

We have the same thing EVERY transfer window. "Coventry City under transfer embargo due to not filing their accounts" Club/manager statement "we are looking at bringing in so & so, we have targets lined up for when embargo lifted" transfer embargo lifed a couple of days before close of window. Samo samo from our so called "saviours" I really can not remember the last time I was excited by any statement from the club re players. Mcgoldrick turned out to be a great loan but I think them even getting him was a lucky one. Look at how many goals he has scored since leaving.

TBF, I don't think trialists get paid for their time. So to be asked to come to a foreign country (or just another City for the English trialists) to try and earn a contract, I think that would be pretty difficult. Especially as I imagine all our trialists this season have been called up on at short notice!
