Byng Not In Bidding

According to the Administrator for Coventry City Football Club Ltd Paul Appleton, Michael Byng is not one of the six, according to the Coventry Telegraph, who had made an indicative bid for whatever assets there are in CCFC Ltd.

Mr Byng had contacted the Coventry Telegraph's Les Reid yesterday to inform him of his bid but according to Mr Appleton this morning, Byng's bid is not amongst those filed before 5pm on Friday.

More on this: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/coventry-city-fc-administrator-gives-4283981?

That did occur to me i.e. that the outcome is very much a forgone conclusion so instead of going through the motions they have approached SISU direct.

I guess that's probably just wishful thinking on my part and doesn't explain why he told the CT that a bid had been submitted. We'll see.

Ah well, looks like we're pinning our hopes on PH4 and Mr Cov then.

He's not definitely out of the running apparently, he's blaming Hotmail or something and insisting he did bid.

Byng says he DID send a bid. Who would you believe - Byng or the administrator? I know which one i believe. But let's be fair and assume it' s lost in the ether. Should still not prevent Byng making an offer Thursday as I'm sure I recall Appleton saying that further bids wouiild be allowed once the deadline had gone when he first put it out there.

I personally do not understand the animosity against Byng & the Chinese - they will certainly have more wedge than Haskell, Byng is from Coventry and is a true Sky Blue Fan, and I'm sure they would appoint a CEO with more integrity and love for the club than Timmie (it's a business) Fisher.

You puzzle me torchy. You seem to want shot of SISU, yet your tag seems to despise and praise ACL (CCFC not ACL) - which is it???

Are we to trust a bidder who uses a hotmail account for business

Well he's either a Joe Dinhsa, a Stalking horse for upping PH4 bid or a dead cert for something that's not for sale.

Surely to get a foot in the door you have to pass the first hurdle otherwise how would they know he would bid more than another?

Are we to trust a bidder who has paid a couple of quid for their own domain and uses that for business?

I know what you're trying to say but it's irrelevant really.

I did bid, it was just late and got lost? Should have no problems negotiating with Sisu, businesses of mutual understanding.

it is completely relevant as he's blaming the bid's failure to reach Appleton on the performance of an old has-been low-capability web email account

Just to be clear, I made up the Hotmail part. He is blaming his email, but not specifically Microsoft.

I'm not worried. If it's like Vista, his gun will take about two minutes to load so I'll be long gone.

I do hope Michael Byng does bid. I have met him a couple of times and he is a huge City fan and is desperate to help sort this out if he can. His Far East investors are, we're told, keen to invest in the local infrastructure in a huge way and they are keen to impress the various authorities, including Coventry City Council, that they are serious.

Personally, I don't care if they do a deal with Sisu that sees us stay in Coventry and, hopefully, stay at the Ricoh. If they are what Michael Byng says they are they could buy and sell Sisu and PKH together, many times over. Bring it on.

Both. I want shot of SISU and I despise ACL. To dislike one doesn't mean you have to like the other. Where's the confusion?

I'm not praising ACL in my signature.

IS, have Byng's mystery investors' met Coventry City Council? If they can buy and sell Sisu and PHIV many times over why is it not just one investor? At the moment we have the word of a one man band that he has these investors on board. Could he be a stalking horse, trying to up the ante from other bidders to maximise a payout to Sisu? He is very cosy with them.

Interesting point.. though he is certainly tied up with this major rail development proposal, but that too is still pie in the sky stuff until contracts are signed.

They're all coming out of the woodwork now though aren't they.. 6 bids..

Thing is we know nothing about the other bidders.

We know about Haskell as someone rumbled it.
Otherwise he intended to keep stum.

Mr Byng is the only one who has his name out their through choice.

All talk of stalking horses will always remind me of this from TFOI:

"The Thick of It: Special: Spinners and Losers" (2007)

Jamie: Are you a horse?
Cliff Lawton: Sorry?
Jamie: Are you a fucking horse?
Cliff Lawton: Um... dunno... what you mean... wh...
Jamie: Are you a fucking horse?
Cliff Lawton: Ok... No I'm not a horse.
Jamie: Are you sure?
Cliff Lawton: I'm sure.
Jamie: You got a pretty fucking horsey face, and a bit of a horsey wife... are you a fucking horse? Are you?
Cliff Lawton: Ok, leaving the wife aside for a second...
Jamie: Are you a horse?
Cliff Lawton: No...
Jamie: EXACTLY!
Cliff Lawton: -Categorically say I'm not a horse
Jamie: You're not a fucking horse. You're no horse, and you're not a stalking horse. You are the real thing. We will ram you up Tom's arse so hard that he will have to shit out of his lying mouth.
Cliff Lawton: Not a very nice image. It's motivating...
