Newcastle don't want him cup tied, slightly worrying that there doesn't seem much chance he'll be staying beyond Jan. if they were planning on letting us have him for the season it wouldn't matter if he played for us in the cups or not.

lets enjoy the lad while he's here !

I think we know what we've got with Adam - we have him until mid-January and that is that unless Newcastle are absolutely flying come the end of the year (which is unlikely). A shame we couldn't secure a full season loan but I'd much rather have him for half a season than not at all. Let's just be grateful for the amount of time he's here banging the goals in!

Not a bad thing TM won't but I'd be happy for him to rest Reda, RV, Maddison.

Newcastle do have a recall clause so it could just be them being extra cautious should they need him for a cup tie in case of injuries.

By the time Januray arrives the league cup will be at the semi final stage and I don't see Newcastle getting that far anyway. So like I say I think its just Newcastle being cautious should they need to recall him.

I think reda will be rested depending on the Willis injury. I think Martin will play over reda so as to 'manage his games'

Think SM is targeting the league cup tbf so don't be surprised if they do make it quite far. but as you say it does seem precautionary for the league cup but we shall see

Would imagine Willis won't play.
So Phillips at RB Martin CB

i also think newcastle are being cautionary over the cups. Think mclaren sees it as a good way to win over the gordies by having a good cup run. Keeping adam on standby is just incase they have a lot of injuries. If he is doing well here nad newcastle are not full of injuries i believe he could stay the full season.

Yep agree, if we and he is doing well, as well as Newcastle playing decently, I think they would rather him stay at a promotion chasing club banging in goals, than go to a mid-table side in the champ where he might not get as much game time.

Newcastle linked with another big money striker today so that may work in our favour. I wonder if they have been scouting Maddison. If so Armstrong will probably be feeding info back to them and if they want first option on him we may be able to use Armstrong as bait in terms of extending his loan and even if we do well this year taking him again next season.

Can't stick Newcastle but I'm hoping they stay in and around the top 6 all season & that their season is injury free

Newxastle 0 -1 v Southampton (my brother - away in China, at the moment - is a season ticket holder there. Within 30 secs of Armstrong's goal. I got a text off his wife, saying 'we want him back !' I replied - No !!!

These 6 month loans often get extended so nor sure why some are already being negative.

If he's bagged a few for us, and a Championship side offer Mike Ashley some readies (a la Bamford last season) to move to them on loan for second half of season, he'll be off (sad, but probably true). Not being negative, and hope it doesn't happen...
