Agree - badly treated by Saints. Had taken Saints from Div 1 to Premiership in successive seasons and was doing ok when Saints sacked him. Experience counts.

He's just been let go by a Premier League team which many saw as a harsh decision. I can't imagine why he'd need to drop two divisions, his reputation should see him in contention when higher jobs come up.

would be a failry stupid decision if he did - he can fail again elsewhere and then come to Cov but if he come and fails with us - then where?

Eh? Football management is probably the only profession where failures get chance after chance. I'd love him here but I would imagine he will set his sights on a more high profile appointment.

I wish his name would stop being suggested, we've got no chance. Apparently he turned down Huddersfield, where Mr Sky Blue Blood has just ran off to.

To be honest looking at the list of managers available is even more depressing than the last time we were searching. Black or Wise are the only two that look appealing, but only due to their previous connections with us and not because they're great managers. I think if we get a decent amount of compensation we need to go looking for a successful manager in work. It couldn't have happened at a worse time - our seasons fallen apart in the last month and it looks unlikely that we'll have anything to play for by the time a new manager is in.

well that was kind of my point - if managers' (almost certain) failure is rewarded then it is always to a team in a worse position. So no point in jumping 2 divisions voluntarily (unless you're Clough with Brighton)
