I can take an expected tough season in the PL. What I can’t take is this being a ‘blip’.

I think he’d go of his own accord if we don’t go up

I do not see a situation where Frank Lampard is managing us in the championship next season

Getting promoted these days is about getting the £200m. What happens next is pure lottery.

Either you go all out like forest and Sunderland when promoted and do what it takes to stay in the prem or you do a Ipswich and Norwich and come back down and yo yo.

I agree. Get promoted, get £200m, get relegated ... but then not necessarily a lottery thereafter. Instead, use the £200m wisely to rebuild a new team which has the experience and know-how to have a good chance of getting promoted again, and use the previous PL experience to be better prepared next time.

DK mentioned a while ago that chairmen of other clubs often talk about generating other sources of income for their clubs, including hotels, casinos and social venues, and he reminded us that the CBS (and the club) already has those established sources. The knack is to use current and future income wisely and not fritter it away on short-term gains but on longer-term plans.

I mentioned on another thread that an fb poster had suggested that, in 10 years' time, CCFC would be an established PL club. Let's hope there's some truth in that especially if the club is prudent in its spending.

Not sure what your point is. We’re top of the league. Did you expect we’d just walk it by 20-30 points?

Indeed. All the talk around Xmas about preparing for the prem etc led us to a position where too many thought the job was done. The championship isn’t that league.

It should've been done. Sorry to sound like a broken record, but its a 122 years where a team in that position hasn't gone up

People like me who have been around the block a few times, took immense pride in our top flight performances. We were the team who should have gone down but never did for years. The reason for this was sheer grit, and determination. Our escapes to me were almost like winning the league. I will never forget the pride I had going into work when they won at Tottenham, a result which sent the two North east clubs down, Sunderland and Middlesbrough. The headlines in the newspapers the next day was that there was something almost supernatural about our refusal to be relegated.
The players most seasons, apart from the odd one, were not top flight material but they gave it a go. I have no doubt if we did get promoted we would once again be true to our traditions and give it a real go.

Not sure how you’re making that link to be honest.
