Think it is going to be a struggle every team chasing seem like they are on fire yet our fire has definitely been put out.Who can handle the pressure will be the two teams who get autos.

In November/December time we would be looking 4 wins or 3 wins and undefeated out of this lot of 5.

We've now got a much stronger squad. Down to the players and Lampard now. Can they drag themselves out of their current funk with the prize of doubling/trebling their salaries and taking their careers to the top level?

The first 2 games are critical. If we beat Boro, I can see us recovering well enough to keep ourselves at the top. Lose and it's over for me, a huge mental blow.

But we HAVE to beat Oxford first. It's Crunch Time.

We did say when this dodgy away form started to just get to january still in with a shout and get some fresh legs in, we are and we have, we’ve got the quality in midfield and upfront to start blowing teams away again, just need to get past this dodgy away run,

Our form really started to go downhill when BTA got injured, can't underestimate how important to us he was in his pre-injury form.
We have missed his pressing and energy as much as his goals, and it's no coincidence we haven't won away since he got injured.
If he can come back where he left off we should get back to something like our previous form. It's so annoying he got banned.

And just hope EMC isn’t out for long, had a scan Monday and haven’t heard anything, doesn’t sound good,

No. Possibly.

Whether we would have had a quick response for better news, I don't know.

Guessing we won't hear now until the Oxford press conference

I've only seen bits of their recent games but they were very lucky to beat WBA and Stoke.

Sheff U, us and Birmingham away are very tough. For all the doom and gloom about our form we've lost 3 home league games in 15 months. Two nice home games for Middlesbrough in amongst the away games though granted.

You aren't wrong. Stoke first half was the worst we have played all season and West Brom was a dreadful game despite the scoreline suggesting a classic.

The last two have been better and its good to win when playing bad. Its 5 wins on the bounce, obviously now the dread is that has to end at some point.

Sheff Utd Monday who have won 7 homes games in a row versus us with the best away record in the league and five wins in the league in a row.

0-0 banker

Boro will tear us to pieces, narrow defeat at a dreadful West Brom, torn apart at Sheff Utd then should see off Stoke. I can’t see any better than that, we are not getting out of this rut as the manager refuses to adapt and the players look devoid of confidence and energy.

Just at my first gym session after catching that flu that was doing the rounds and I am fucked, down on everything (15-20%).

The drop off is something else considering I'm more than a week off this. I can more than see this killing the team over Christmas if the effects have lingered on for the playing squad...

EMC. Oggy being going on for weeks that emc is injury prone on heavy pitches and needed rotation. He has been playing 90 minutes every game recently

Didn't somebody say in an interview at the start of last week that he was finally fully fit too.
One of the club interviews.... Could be wrong but sure I heard it somewhere.

Oxford (H) W
Middlesborough (H) D
WBA (A) D
Sheffield united (A) L
Stoke (H) W

I think we'll get 8 points, but ideally it needs to be at least 10.

judging by trying to sign the Sunderland left winger last min, it’s not good news, anyway 10 wins gets it done and we’ve got 9 at home, as bad as wev‘e been we’ll pick up at least a couple away,

Tbf whilst it's handier for you to stay ahead of us, we're not really the issue or the side to watch that everything hinges on. From our perspective, even if we did overtake you we'd be focussed not on the gap to 2nd, but the gap to 3rd?

Promotion is the be all and end all really. So I imagine we should become much more of a focus if we dropped to 3rd, but otherwise not so much.

Easy to say that when you didn’t have your only tile win in a generation taken from you by Covid and haven’t been top the majority of the season.

It's been almost 22 years since we won anything, though have had the Euro final 2 years later at least.

Mind, Promotion to us is 98% the prize. The shiny pot you get for winning the title would be nice, but most of us don't give a toss about it in comparison.

9 points for each 5 games, and then 3 points in the last game takes us to 88

That has to be minimum target

It's generally the most often agreed target on our forum too. It's more likely than it isn't (though not guaranteed of course) that total would be enough for the autos.

I really think 90 will be enough for top slot.
Ipswich need 2.29ppg to get to 90
Hull 2.25ppg
Millwall 2.5ppg
No team has averaged 2ppg so far.
And all the contenders have to play at least 2 of the other contenders

I was just looking at the teams outside current top 2 that pose the most threat to overtaking us, I've consistently thought we will need 90 for top spot and 87 will likely be enough for auto promotion.
