I posted this on another thread, but felt it needed a thread of its own.

Can't think of too many tougher runs of fixtures than this one.

Bradford at home - 2 points off the top 6

Chesterfield away - 2 points off the top 6

Fleetwood away - 2 points off the top 6

Doncaster home - In top 6

Peterborough away - Level on points with Doncaster in 6th place.

Not saying we can't win any of these, but it would be much better to be playing midtable teams right now, rather than those in with a great chance of the play-off positions.

I wouldn't worry normally. Previous teams could up their game, and often had to.

It's as though this squad can't; or, more worrying, don't have the same desire for CCFC as we do.

Can't see us getting anything more than a couple of points from those 5 games.
We will be firmly embedded in the relegation zone before we've played all 5.
I really hope I'm wrong but as good as I think Mowbray is he is not a saint.

We desperately, desperately need a central midfield player brought in on loan with immediate effect.

We do, but we have enough strikers and very little in the middle of the park at all. Defence also is a major concern, but number one priority if we are only allowed to bring one more loan player in has to be a central midfielder.

If we were allowed more than one I would definitely be looking at defence as well, but if we are only allowed one, that has to be a midfielder.

The problem is Otis the way the league is heading virtually every team we play has a chance of top six bar us and four in the zone so disagree with you a little about toughest run in but do not disagree it will be tough. I think/hope Bradford players will have one eye on cup replay......and we have to target win.

I also think the players are good enough to survive but combination of wrong formation. lack of performance mean results are not coming to fruition. Regarding the team I think we need to go to 4 or 5 in midfield again. I would go 4-4-2 as most players know this formation and roles. Is Conor Thomas injured? I would bring him back as he does a lot of unsung running/tackling even if his quality in posesion is not always what it could be.

I would line up like this for Bradford - experience and toughness are attributes needed for Bradford

Pennington RB
Martin CB
Webster CB
Stokes LB
Odelusi RM
Thomas DCM
Fleck ACM
O'Brien LM
Samuel CF
Tudgay/Nouble CF

Subs: Charles-Cook, Phillips, Haynes, Williams, Barton, Jackson, Tudgay/Nouble

I think we're going to have to rely on the teams below us screwing up. And I can't see all 4 of them doing that.

4 points from that list will be a good outcome.

Not looking good is it? I think of all the relegation battles we used to be good at. Not such a good track record of late.

The bottom 4 are playing each other at the weekend so points will be picked up one way or another by those below us. Bradford is massive.

Best result there would be for them all to play out a draw. If there are 2 wins out of the 2 games I think we may well find ourselves back in the relegation places.

I share the concern but surely TM knew this when he accepted the job and presumably knows he can work this team to a better position. I believe he will do just that.

We're capable of beating all of them, Chesterfield, Fleetwood and Peterborough were all poor at the Ricoh. Doncaster are an average team and hopefully Bradford will have there eyes on other matches.

That said we're also capable of losing all of them if things go wrong.

I don't think we'll see that much of a difference, given he won't be able to bring 1 or maybe 2 players in at a push, we'll still be left with the same deficiencies - no balance, no grit in midfield and and inexperienced back 4

Yep and people yesterday were saying we would beat Port Vale and people on Tuesday were saying we should get something at Barnsley.

Yes, anyone can beat anyone, but has anyone got a worse midfield than us? Are other teams making as many mistakes at the back as us? I recall Clive Eakin yesterday saying, we have given away more goals at set plays than any other team in this league.

And others were saying we wouldnt' beat MKD. So yes anyone can beat anyone, I won't get depressed about a defeat unless we've actually lost.

True but you could extend that further and say anyone is capable of beating anyone in the UK as Bradford proved earlier in the season. Point is we aren't playing a Bristol City or a Preston. We have a decent chance of winning going into everyone of the next 5 fixtures.

The thing is that most of the teams in this league are average or terrible. Chesterfield at the Ricoh earlier in the season were dreadful and somehow are in the play off chase-the difference I feel is not ability but mentality and for most of the season our players have not had it and their useless manager was part responsible.

Mowbray has got to get this group fired up about playing for the club, or at least get players prepared to work hard for it.

True, although the league table and form table (7 points out of the last 30) suggest it isn't going to be that easy, which I'm sure will be reflected in the betting odds. At the end of the day, we're 5th from bottom for a reason.

It is all throughly depressing.

Not should or would but could, they were tight games. On another day the same level of performance over the last 2 games could have yielded 4 points such as the margins are in this game.

Theres people on here saying we will be lucky to get more than a couple of points, these aren't brilliant teams we are coming up against. I will be shocked if we don't win 1, I'm expecting us to win at least 2 and we should be aiming for 3 wins from this set of fixtures.

I agree, I think there will be a marked change soonish.

I've a feeling he will want to bring in a defender to organise the defence, with a view to giving him a contract at the end of the season and send back one or 2 of the under performing loans.

Of course it will be tough fixtures as they always are when you are low on confidence but the way some are talking it sounds as if they are expecting a comprehensive 3-0 defeat like Swindon served to us earlier in the season. They will be tight games decided by a goal either way.

And league positions can quickly change, look at Barnsley 5 games ago they were only 4 points ahead of us. They say a team don't change overnight but this team have gone from relegation battlers to play off contenders within a few weeks. Barnsley haven't suddenly transformed into a brilliant team, which sort of proves my point, the difference in quality between being down where we are and up where Barnsley are now is minimal.

A few days ago some on here were talking about play offs and betting odds with the arrival of TM. I also note after the match TM said "I could not fault there effort and endeavour." In recent weeks that would have merited an entire thread on its own slagging off SP. But today the focus is on how difficult the next 5 games are.

I have concluded for sometime, some posters on here are clueless, deluded or both, and some don't understand football outside of a 4-4-2 formation.

I am however hopeful, that reality will now hit home at the task facing our club to build a team let alone a squad. It doesn't matter whether you are SP or TM the task is the same. I think TM is a good appointment, but question whether he can turn it round with the resources available. Also only till the end of the season is a worry and seriously question whether he will be here beyond that? If he is not his impact will be minimal.

SP wasn't actually a bad appointment, but was lacking in experience in key areas. This was compounded by not putting enough or the right resources (back room staff) around him to ensure his development.

Really tough times, but Lge 2 would be tougher.

And by the same token on another day with the same level of performance MK Dons would have beaten us easily.

I am not getting depressed about it, but it is a massive task. We have an inexperienced keeper, am error ridden back four and an almost none existent midfield. We are 5th from bottom and our form has been very poor.

TM simply has to turn things round sharpish. Ideally he could do with 4 or 5 games to put his mark on the team, but if it takes 4 or 5 games we could be entrenched in the bottom four by then.

Yes, understand all that, but the last 10 games' form table is ......

Yevoil W2, D4, L4

Crawley W3, D1, L6

Colchester W3, D1, L6

Leyton O W3, D1, L6

City, it is W1, D4, L5.

Only one win in the last 10 games.

Points total in those 10 games;

Yeovil 10 pts

Crawley 10 pts

Colchester 10 pts

Leyton O 10 pts.

City 7 pts.

Fine margins but the gap has narrowed behind us.

That's the last 10 games.

If we look at it based on the last 6 games it is worse still in terms of form.

Based on the last 6 games' form Orient are 10th, Crawley 13th and Colchester 18th. City are 21st and only Yeovil out of the bottom 4 are worse than us in the form guide.

Not saying it is simple. Nothing of the sort.

Just saying we are bottom 5 and our form is worse than 3 of the bottom 4.

I have faith in Mowbray, but do not have the same faith in the players.
