previous managers - have said 10 games is a good guide - and when the league table starts to settle down

to be in line for a run at the play offs we would therefore need 16-17 points off 10 games

so 7 or 8 points from the next 4 games

as those games are
yeovil H
scunthorpe A
Rochdale A
Preston h

it is quite conceivable for us to get anywhere between 2 and 10 points

I think

D/W/L/W to put us on 16 points - not too bad a position

any thoughts?

Actually a tough run. On our day we can win all 4 but realistically? Realistic me says

Yeovil - Win/Draw
Scunthorpe - Draw
Rochdale - defeat
Preston - Defeat

Lose all 4... then realise we can't afford to sack Pressley

Yeovil Win/Draw.
Scunny Win
Rochdale Win.

I would like to think we will do well against Preston. Our new players will be fitter by then. We are at home. And hopefully we will be 8 league games undefeated by then. A draw would be OK. But we could be aiming for the top 2 by then.

I think people need to realise there are no easy games in league one. We will do well to get two points from the Yeovil and Preston game.

Works both ways. We are not an easy game for either Yeovil or Preston. We are also unbeaten since the first day of the season to an injury time goal and losing 2-1 against Cardiff the very next game. We are now unbeaten in the last 6. So I won't talk our chances down until I have a reason to.

agreed, never fails to make me realise how far we have dropped when people are predicting a loss against Rochdale (no offence to them)

Yeah that's true. I mean touch wood defensively we do look a lot better. I think we needed a big leader and the back and we've got that with Reda. In amazed to say as well I think Webster has also been playing well, I don't know what everyone else thinks about him. Ideally though at HOME feels great to say that. We ought to be looking to win the games

Odd logic says we are above three of them and level with one, 1 draw and 3 defeats 1pt.

Realistically 7pts.

4 good days 12pts.

Im going for 12pts.

To get anywhere near promotion we need to average 2 points per game.

Don't think we have although we beat them in the cup late 80's /early 90's IIRC. Won at our place lost at theirs. And as someone said earlier they also beat us early 2000's. Remember nothing otherwise.

Not googled it but I'm sure we won 2-1 once when we were in the championship with Ady Boothroyd

Funnily enough - think Rochdale away will be the toughest game we have - they have a player called Done(?) who seems to be bagging a few lately and they've scored a few too.

Any thoughts? Yes. The next 4 games could well define our season. If we step up to the plate and garner 10 points from these, hopefully we’ll kick on through to December where Christmas games could once again define our season. 7 points from 9 from these games should give us momentum as we enter the tricky winter period.

If we can average 1.8 points per game from January to mid March then the Easter fixtures could well define our season. However, a drop in form after Easter and its quite conceivable a losing run could see us drop off the pace and see us mid table. It's these games as we near the finish line that could well define our season.

That's exactly my prediction, starting with a draw against Yeovil.

You certainly used the term 'define our season' a lot.
