A HORSE was rescued from the Coventry Canal by fire crews last night (Wednesday). The animal had found its way into the canal at Sutton Stop, Longford, and two crews from Radford fire station and a technical rescue team from Bickenhill were sent to retrieve it at 7.30pm. Firefighters entered the canal and used specialist equipment to hoist the horse out the water. A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said it took just over an hour to free the horse and it was examined by a vet for hypothermia before the owner arrived.
