Makes you proud to play there;)

Personally I think it is an improvement on last year. If they could continue by knocking down the other 3 stands and ripping up the pitch, it would be perfect.

wasn't the new stand supposed to be ready for the start of the season? how have they got so far behind, looks like they've barely started.

Total cock up from Cardoza. He got planning permission for the new stand. Then at the last minute decided he needed more conference rooms and corporate boxes so instead of doing the job from May to August it's now August to October.

Even then it's controversial. As you say the builders seem to have barely started...and they're Cardoza's own company! Secondly there's a row about the corporate boxes completely blocking some seats from half the pitch...apparently those seats will only get used on very rare occasions...that's all right then!

Basically it's a usual Cobbler's cock up. Meantime a mile away the Saints quietly expand their ground to 17,000 without a fuss...

So NTFC have been loaned £12m by the council so they can expand a ground that is never full and the company who have been chosen to carry out the work just happen to by owned by the owner of the football club.

Where's the state aid police when you need them?

Beggars belief doesn't it.

I wonder if the state aid police are going to go on rent strike, give examples of rent at other half built grounds and then take out a JR on their current landlord for not signing up to an ARVO loan for the new stand claiming that the council loan wouldn't have been available in the commercial market and also suing because they weren't invited to tender in a joint venture with say ............. stadiarena.

Funny how some on here use this as an excuse as to why we are in Northampton! and how Coventry Council are charlatans, but at the same time say nothing about Northampton council the owners of our new home doing exactly the same.
And they accuse us of double standards.

I'd love to talk about the rental deal Northampton CC offer their football club for the ground...

Or how about the march Northampton fans did to pressure the council to give the club a better deal to preserve its future?

Don't forget the council built the stadium 20 years ago. Then recently sold it to Cardoza for £1 as it was losing money.

The £12m loan is to be repaid by sale of adjacent land that was part of what the council gave away for £1! SISU must be green with envy at what Cardoza got away with.

And he got SISU to pay for improving the pitch.

He seems much more wiser than Joy and co.

Not to mention a c-unit just like them... agreeing to have us their in the first place, at least others said No.
He's certainly losing popularity amongst the Northampton fans. For 150k per year rent it hardly seems worth the trouble of having Coventry there. Even 2 Cobblers home games with 5k watching @ say £15 average ticket makes that much.

So Cobblers make not that much. SISU lose even more. How long will they hold out for some cheap real estate?

To be honest the deal was partly because the Council were sitting on a load of money that was ringfenced so had to be loaned to the Cobblers and the Saints. Also the leader of the borough council will use it to try to increase his popularity as he is standing as conservative candidate in next year's general election (it won't do him much good as he's completely cocked up the town centre).

(oh and yes I'm a cobblers fan)
