We need a new striker ASAP.

44 attempts at goals in 2 games, 11 of which were on target, none of which were converted into goals.

simply not good enough, if you create this many chances you should be scoring goals.

Some strikers would be begging to be up front in a team that creates this many chances! for me Clarke isnt good enough!

You're right. He only has 16 goals this season. He'll only probably get 20 goals in total and that of course is simply not acceptable.

Must be more on target as 12 were on target against crew alone

i just get the feeling if we had another striker they would be more profilic in front of goal.

he scores 1 in 10 chances and grabs the headlines. he needs to be putting these away more often

Having seen Clarke live at Tramere, Oldham and today I have not been impressed

I don't think he should be playing up top on his own, he is slow off the mark so struggles to get in behind and his link up play is poor
Elliott should start ahead of him or alongside him if we go 2 up top

A very different player to McGoldrick, who was creative and could read the game, Clarke is going to struggle to impress in this team unless he becomes more mobile

You know better than that Otis, this bloke has had 3 tap-ins and a rebound and we're grateful for them but again today he looked feckin lost. He can't head the ball to any great extent and he never knows whether to come or go for the ball. He creates nothing for himself at all. Brain dead springs to mind, he's not had so many clubs in such a period for no reason. Mark Robins first major mistake is giving him a long contract !!

but did the Yeovil keeper actually have to make more than 2 difficult saves ?? We could have played till 7 and still be trying to score !!!

Clarke is a finisher and that's about it, Elliot showed today that he is a better all round forward. We need a new loan striker and winger if possible

Clarke might be a finisher but he is not finishing and sometimes looks finished. He is not up to the mark and all goals he has scored have been laid on a plate for him.
I'm worried that the whole team is modelled around him when he lacks so much. He's looks lazy, he's behind the play and doesn't look sharp.
I know Robins will be into this !

This isn't a criticism of Clarke because his goals record speaks for itself... but he is not technically good enough to play up front on his own. For that formation to work the wingers need to be joining in and scoring and you need a centre midfielder to get beyond the striker and scored 10 goals a season. We haven't got that. Baker has done well this season and made the whole formation work but we also need more goal threat from the left which is why I've been so critical of McSheffrey. Clarke needs more help from midfield or we need to go 4-4-2 in my opinion.

Madine needs to come in and Cody i think deserves another chance. He's been scoring constantly since he went to Gillingham and i know its a differant level, but he's got the condiecne and the eye for goal. Clarke hasnt impressed me. He has potential to be better like he proved at Scunthorpe but so far the only goals he's scored are the one she cudnt miss. He's missed some amazing chances that Goldie would have burried and i think Maidne would be a fine addition to our team after what he did last year. Although Elliott has looked threatening going forward lately, Clarke is the main striker and that needs to change cus he's not taking the chances

This is hilarious. McDonald has appeared in 60 games at this level or above and scored 10 times. Clark has already scored 4 for the club in 6 games.

Next you'll be saying Dunn is a better keeper than Murphy. Oh hold on....,

Not really as I could not give a shit what you think you TIT, I have never licked his arse either but what I can say he has scored goals and if I am not mistaken right up there as a leading goal scorer in this division

.....................He'll score a few more too but we won't succeed relying on his inept brand of brainless football. He'll be fourth choice by next August !!

I don't to get go often but that's the second time I've seen him today, he looks so flat footed. The basics I was taught as a kid was always be on your toes and know your next pass. He contantly seems surprised to get the ball and flaps a bit then loses it. Yes he's scored goals in this division. But he doesn't fill me with confidence still. I really don't think Madine is the answer IMO. I would love to see someone like earnshaw to have come here. He's always busy and looks for a pass. He can drop off or go in behind and is very clinical.

Don't quite get this 'we need a new striker' call.

If anything the last few games has taught us, we desperately need at least one new centre back.

I know our attack has misfired the last two games butt he defence has looked very, very shaky for quite some time and it is them that are letting us down big time.

It is a defender we need with the greatest urgency rather than a striker.

44 shots an no goals, I just haven't seen anything from Clarke yet to be convinced. In the games I have seen him, every game I have seen him he has been poor

Ok our defence is very average but there is a big overreaction to the 3 goals conceded against Crewe imo. 2 of them were just because of the occasion and the 2 defender were left completely exposed and the players had completely lost there head by this point

Same today, they had 5 men streaking through against 3 of our defender for there goal. Defence can't do much if they are completely outnumbered

Reply - sadly iPhone doesn't give that option.

As for BackdoorBummers (sorry another typo but hardly with correcting) comments, I don't think my response would even register.

My point overall was we need to score goals and we are just unable to at the moment. Near enough is not the back of the net.

Paddy Madden was the difference for Yeovil today. He is actually the type of striker that would fit in our system. Now just have to find someone like him. We need our own version of Lambert/Holt/Le Fondre who can not only do well in this league but make us competitive in the Championship too. Sorry to say Clarke is not it. He will however make a decent second/sub striker.

Thing that annoys me about Clarke is he appears so slow off the mark, plenty of times over the last 2 games he gets a ball slid into him an he looks favourite to reach it first but manages to get beat to the ball by the opposition defender

next week Clarke and Wood will be warming the bench.

Elliot and Cameron in.

Maybe even Ball up front with Elliott in a 4-4-2

Agreed but puzzles me as my sketchy memory recalls him springing our defence all game when he was here with Scunny.
