It’s no more sensible than it was when SISU made the same claims multiple times.
Unless its mentioned somewhere else in the act there's no timescale on that so nothing to say that you need to communicate and consult with fans just because you've sent someone a letter and had a word with the council.Under the Act, clubs are legally required to establish a Fan Advisory Board and carry out periodic consultation with supporters on several critical decisions, including (but not limited to) :
- Relocation of the stadium
But that growth is very uncertain. The fact that Jon Sharp is directly quoted here makes me feel like this is an attempt at some pressure PR by King on Frasers.
They don't strike me as the sort of company that will give a fuck though so how well this works remains to be seen.
Truth is, as Frasers see success of the club growing, they'll be expecting a bigger financial commitment from the club. They're hyenas really and so will be pushing a hard deal to fleece us as much as they can.
It’s not their job to be helpful. Not sure this is really helpful in anyway from Gilbert or CWR a week before the season starts
It was not noWhat, it was said at the forum about speaking to the Council?
Only one party to blame for that and maybe frasers slightly too and it could easily have been leaked by the clubStorm in a teacup to be honest. Would rather have heard nothing as it's just gone cause some to stress and use it to further whatever bias they already have.
It’s not fakeYou have just described my feelings as I saw the headline this morning and read the article and Simon's tweets.
I'm not suggesting it's a fake story or that it isn't a good one.
True but it shows a willingness to engageUnless its mentioned somewhere else in the act there's no timescale on that so nothing to say that you need to communicate and consult with fans just because you've sent someone a letter and had a word with the council.
Yeah I know he’s a journalist etc etc. But didn’t Gilbert basically stop the council from managing to bail out Wasps by publishing a story on it before it happened? Deserves a bit of credit for that surely?
The story is credible the suggestion of a 40k stadium is notIt clearly isn't credible - where on earth would a 40k capacity stadium fit on that parcel of land? It has very hard constraints in the road, railway and a public park. It is worrying that we're back to where we were 10 years ago, just different individuals playing the different roles.
Cross over with my views on the politics thread, landlordism is terrible.
15K stadium, matchday tickets £150 - problem solvedThe story is credible the suggestion of a 40k stadium is not
It was not no
I subsequently found out after which has made me cross as he had every opportunity to mention it and I think should have done if I’m honest but also naive
Been a bit boring for a while now. Bring back live commentary of the court cases
The roof would be at street level, because to fit 40k in they would have to build the whole thing under the ground. Will it have a retractable roof and pitch?
No, it was CWRThat was Les Reid, I believe.
I know more than Simon then it appearsAgain it depends on the context doesn't it?
If he said to Jon Sharpe a while back "wouldn't it be nice if we could join up and build a big stadium" or if there have been serious plans drawn up.
Context is key, the story doesn't give any.
Think he pissed them off saying it was a non starter but you’re probably correctWe're led to believe King doesn't have enough money to fund further transfers and is looking for external investment. How is he paying for a new stadium then?
Wouldn't your first call be the Uni who actually have the land available. Literally left a stadium sized hole in their redevelopment plans for the club to build a stadium.
I know more than Simon then it appears
He’s been in touch and I’ve fed in what i know
Be interested in frasers response if they give one
you’ve called it and it’s somewhere in between those two
It’s not my story to tell so I’ll let Doug and John tell it should they wish to
Yep context is key I agree but why would the club go to the council with a non starter of a suggestion?
Anyway bad timing but who’s to blame not us fans
So based on this, Doug and John have worked together on the proposal?I know more than Simon then it appears

Doug King is in no greater position to invest his own money into a new stadium than SISU were. Not really, as Sisu wouldn’t even pay for broken windows at Ryton to be fixed.
The idea that they would invest millions in a new stadium was laughable.
Let’s see what Doug and John and frasers say to Simon today as a followSo what's the context that you know?
True but it shows a willingness to engage
What could have been said?
good question that and I’m not sure what the answer is but still annoying that the line was we haven’t got a deal and we want one when he knew more was happening
Maybe transparency isn’t possible and maybe we don’t want it
Maybe we should suck up and just allow him to do what he wants with our club. I say no
Let’s see what Doug and John and frasers say to Simon today as a follow
I won’t talk on behalf of Doug or John sharp or frasers
I will say the notes will show Doug said the situation hasn’t changed we will get a fine
I said what is his preference to own or get a long lease. He said own in a round about way
I said does he have a figure in mind and he said h wouldn’t say. I said I don’t mean an actual figure I mean does he know what he’d pay and he said he knows what the market says it’s worth
I know a proposal was sent to the council for a 40k stadium by the club
I know that John Sharp and Doug have been at one another’s games and discussed this
I know Doug was told it was a non starter
We all know it was rejected and now it appears the council have shared that with Simon
That’s all I know
It’s bloody annoying it’s come out now and I’m sure if the club didn’t leak it they will be bloody annoyed too
Haven’t taken it in the wrong wayPete I don't mean this too harshly so don't take it too as so but it's a naive take to say he should be engaging about topics without any kind of information.
If he came to a fans forum and said 'i want to consider a new stadium if I can't get a deal' the very first questions would - where, how big, do we have a relationship with the council and local agencies to support this.
It would look far more farcical if he engaged with fans before even exploring feasibility. It may be that he has decided it can't really be done already hence not needing to mention it but of course we won't really know.
