Frasers taking the piss with the rent by the sounds of it. How the hell youd get a 40,000 seat stadium at that site is beyond me though

Seems a play to force Frasers hand to me.

However if plans exist I’m very interested at how it would be built on that site. Remember thinking 25,000 would be a stretch, let alone 40,000.

City Centre location though which I think would be a massive for the city and club.

The fact that Jon Sharp is directly quoted here makes me feel like this is an attempt at some pressure PR by King on Frasers.

They don't strike me as the sort of company that will give a fuck though so how well this works remains to be seen.

Truth is, as Frasers see success of the club growing, they'll be expecting a bigger financial commitment from the club. They're hyenas really and so will be pushing a hard deal to fleece us as much as they can.

One senior councillor, who did not want to be named, told the BBC: "This is not a discussion the city needs to have again."

This immediately pissed me off. Old habits hey……

Think the fsa and the new football bill requires a little more transparency from the club over stuff like this and I will be saying so

King is looking after the best interests of the club. So I would fully expect him to look at options like this as we don’t own the ground or have a long term deal in place.

I did think about the forum response when I read it.

Surley he and the club would know the sensitivity of this. Not good enough considering our history with this imo

As far as we all know, this might have been an anecdotal speculative chat and gone no further. Clearly our long term future is important and King is thinking about that - I'm glad he's doing so. I personally don't think he owes us an update of every slight bowel movement.

What do you want from King tbf. He tried to get the stadium originally which would have finally united club and stadium, but no doubt there were people who still didn't want that to happen.
He has to explore other options if he thinks Frasers are going to fleece us. Pretty sure it's just posturing and a compromise will be found. The ground holds no worth without us.

Whether or not it’s a negotiation strategy, it is objectively Very Funny that we’re back to the club proposing new stadiums at the Butts in order to pressure the owners of the CBS, only for the council to oppose it etc etc. Time truly is a flat circle.

If you have the money to build a new stadium , you have the money to buy the current one off Fraser group instead surely

I mean if you think he had an agenda, he has got quotes from the Rugby club confirming Doug’s spoke to him and the council.

Balls in the clubs court I guess, be interested how they respond

They don't need to make a statement. SG is a worm who is just churning up old rubbish and trying to create a story. The club, Ashley and whoever don't take him seriously or give him the time of day, which we shouldn't.

Say you could get 40k on the butts site, which I very much doubt. Do Councils (and police) even allow big grounds to be built inner city anymore? Unless its London or rebuilding on a current site that is

Any chance of getting a decent sized stadium on that site disappeared when they built the retirement village.

A city centre location would be great though. Great for pubs, shops, hotels, public transport. Could have a real regeneration effect. Won’t happen though. The Butts is fundamentally unsuitable with what is around it

If he thinks he can pressure Frasers into a deal then hes got another thing coming..they have much bigger pockets than him

I said before I worry about what will happen when his 5 year plan ends.....

If we are serious, Doug probably needs to send an apology to University of Warwick as not sure the land is there in the city.

Unless, sky dome and IKEA anyone

This’ll be a “story” every year, at this time of year, until the club has a ground of its own or owns the CBS.

Boring.

It is worrying this is cropping up again

Another move would destroy the fanbase we have done so well to build up over the last few years and set the club back years

Needs to be sorted, leaving the CBS isn't an option
