The same people moaning how shit he is will no doubt be the ones crying most when sold or released to go to a higher division...

In my opinion it was a stupid comparison. Two totally different wingers playing in different times. Or do you think it was an accurate comparison?
For me it would have been better to use a more modern comparison and a similar winger in similar leagues. Say Baker for instance but he scored 10 goals last season alone compared to this new players 12 all career, or even Moussa who scored 14 last season . But then if Grendel had of used this comparison it would make this new player look mediocre at best and that isn't what he was gong for, is it.
dunno, but by judging by the 2 so far, the scouting network extends as far as...
"who did well against us last season and is on a free!"
who's moaning ?
Not too bothered who we bring in. It is more important on what they can do.
We are going to start the season without three players that scored most of our goals last season. So we have brought in two players that don't exactly score many goals. O'Brien has scored 12 goals in his career so far. I would hope for a little better off a defender, but he is said to be a winger. I just want to see players coming in that can score goals. And we also need to sort our defence out.
There is a striker we could have next season that wouldn't cost us a fee. He has lots of pace, is strong and scored over 20 goals last season. Can't see Wilson staying though
We've had a decent record in finding strikers under Robins (McGoldrick, Clarke), not so sure about under Pressley (Manset, Slager, Delfoneuso, Eccleston). That's the only thing that worries me about this. I'd much rather have seen Robins given a couple of million to spend than Pressley.
Of the 18 players signed last season, I'd say maybe 5 were worthwhile.
Brilliant.
In the championship baker scored 2 goals in 80 appearances

So that's similar to 7 in 80 starts for the new lad then? I use a player from a league lower and you take the piss. Remind me again about your comparison and what leagues the players were in. You see then I can come back with a post saying brilliant.
I think G was making the point that Hutch is a sky blue GOD and his scoring rate was similar to O'Brien so lets not start off too critical. Perfectly valid point and if anyone else had said it we would not be having this conversation.
Maybe originally, but now we'll get at least 3 pages which will eventually descend into people pointing out grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
It isn't totally stupid, but Grendel said it, so if you take the piss you'll get a few internet slaps on the back and a couple of likes.
Grendel says 2 goals a season is good for a winger. It wasn't a stupid comment because you said so.
Yes we need players that can create, but we also need players that can score. And it looks like we will have lost every player from last season that scored goals by the time next season starts.
Carl baker scored one goal a season in the championship.
Yup, not good enough in champ, but his record in div 3 is however decent enough.

How many goals did O'Brien score in the Championship?
So, 5 down, 5 to go if Pressley is to get his way.
Glad we're getting players is early
Agreed - and he's going to have to get minimum 2, probably 3 forwards from those 5 ?
