Are the players we have brought in really not good enough?

Despite what's been claimed, I still think CoH is better than Rudoni. EMC will take time to get up to speed but we've almost certainly overpaid for him.

It was always baffling that people were so bullish about Rudoni being better than O’Hare. Looks a clear downgrade so far.

They will be ok, everyone is horribly out of form. Big players from last season have not stepped on and it must be hard for the new guys to get any sort or rhythm.

Not going to judge the too harshly today as Leeds are quality and will do that to you. Need to start turning the corner soon though.

Our best 11 has 2 new signings in it (Dovin & Rudoni). New signings aren’t the problem. Failing to translate quality players into results is the problem.

When the bitterness about Sheffield United is put to one side, I think we all have to concede that O’Hare is a huge loss. Not just for ability but the personal qualities he has. And I also think he made the players around him look better as he got through so much work.

He’s in a different league to Rudoni, who I think is a different type of player anyway and will do well. But he’s no replacement for Calum.

Indeed. Can’t believe people thought O’Hare wouldn’t be a miss. Even a blind man could’ve seen it. Think it is more a case of sour grapes and saying the right thing because he didn’t sign a new deal.

It's really hard to judge new players when the whole team is playing so badly.

I kind of understood it as Sheff Utd is a detestable club so didn’t get stuck in, but he’s a massive loss.

Again, putting personal grudges and popular groupthink stupidity to one side- we lost Vik, Hamer, O’Hare, McFazdean, Kelly, in quick succession. All of them delivered when you needed them to, and they all had strong characters, they were all leaders.

It’s hard enough to replace one of them, let alone all of them- impossible in all likelihood.

too early to say if we’ve managed to scratch the surface of what we lost- I thought Wright looked like he might be the one to show some leadership but to me he looks like his head has totally gone.

Funny enough that's what Stevie Wonder said to me when I bumped into him at my local recently.

Great post and I’d mentioned this earlier. It was time for the “old guard” to be moved on but all at once may have been a mistake. No leaders are now apparent and no voices in and around the dressing room it seems?

Dovin is an upgrade on Wilson
Emc we have had our pants pulled down on him at this stage and we certainly overpaid for him.
Rudoni will be ok
BTA wasn’t needed

Totally, and that ‘wise head’ vastly experienced figure that Viveash seemed to be has gone as well, so aside from Robins himself, who do they go to when they are going through a bad patch, both on & off the pitch?

Yup. This.

I think if the tactics are seemingly wrong and the positional play and system aren't properly in place and if the team selection is seemingly left wanting, it's wrong to just dismiss the players as not good enough.

Certain players play better in certain systems and in tandem with certain players. We look better when Saka and MVE play together don't we?

Eccles is better alongside Sheaf.

You also have to factor in form. I wouldn't dismiss Mason-Clark yet. Still very early days and so too, BTA.

I have no idea why it has gone wrong, but I don't see these new players as bad players at all

Fighting to get the ball back after losing it will go a long way to get their confidence back, effing and reffing at other not helping either, Wilson going down after 20 minutes was the best bit of play on the field! He could see that we needed to adjust to close up their left flank and did so.e shithousery to allow Robbins to reset some things

EMC! Pulled our pants down! Totally overpaid for him, no wonder the Peterborough chairman likes doing deals with DK.
£2million would have been more than enough in my eyes.

this is stupid talk. He’s not the type to come in all guns blazing, it’s taking him time- but to write him off after this long is crazy.

Think Rudi is more dimensional than CoH when playing well.. just feel he needs a good run in a team playing well and we will see what he is capable of.

Not writing him off! Just stating we paid too much for him. I saw him play a few times last season and was good but not exceptional and will make a good championship player over time.

EMC is looked way above league one standard at Peterborough, I don't think he's a bad signing at all and look forward to seeing him once he gets upto speed. Had a few decent chances to score already but doesn't look composed and lashes at it. He'll definitely come good.

O'Hare is gone, he didn't want to stay, the number of good games he had in his last 2 seasons doesn't reach double figures, granted he was injured for a season and then couldn't be bothered after January. He's a loss but let's not go on like he's Messi. Hamer was the driving force behind those teams, and his loss is massive. Rudoni is going to be a better player, he already has 2 years in the championship, at the same age, O'Hare was sat on our bench behind Zain Westbrooke most weeks.

Don't rate any of the CBs. Kitching looks very good in a 3 where he can step out and bring it up the pitch but in a 2, he's a disaster waiting to happen.

Dovin is too early to say, excellent with the ball at his feet but looks weak on crosses/corners.

Rudoni definitely has something but he has a tendency to go missing. While he is certainly influential when he’s on his game he carries no influence at all for large parts of each game. At the moment that is bad news for a team that is performing so badly.

No one we've brought in is as good as Gyokeres, Hamer and O'hare

If you add those 3 in place of Simms, Torp and Rudoni and we add a fit Sheaf, then we are a completely different side.

We also have a squad that's carrying players like Collins, Tavares and Raphael who arnt contributing (fit or nor)
And Allen EMC Asante and Torp who arnt good enough for a side looking for a top 6 finish.

That's a quarter of our squad that's not good enough !!! And that's before you point the finger at Wright Simms and Sakamoto who are good enough, but for some reason go AWOL far too often in too many games.

If all that's not bad enough, we've lost some experienced heads from the squad like Fadz, Kelly and Palmer, they may not have played too many minutes, but their leadership and example around the training ground can't be underestimated.

Mason-Clark’s got talent and is a decent player. Jury is out for me on if we’ve overpaid. He’s 25 and he could in theory be entering his peak or be a few years away from it. I look at it as was the right player to bring in. I can’t help thinking that what we committed to spend on him in January could’ve been used to keep O’Hare who’s only a year older. We would’ve had plenty of that fee left over too afterwards.
