Most of the teams that have a manager fail to get promoted. And in most cases, as many teams get relegated as promoted. So maybe it doesn't matter who the manager is.

We need a new manager at the start of each month and we will have new manager bounce all season, Sisu have tried it but it doesn't work so well with directors

Just checking out win %s of those in the running according to bookies:

Cotterill - 41.3%
Evans - 43.2%
Pressley - 37.3%
O'Driscoll - 36.1%
Jackett - 43.4%
Venus - N/a
Heath - 45.1% (heavily skewed by MLS stats)
Freedman - 34.3%
Page - 37.4%
Davies - 40.7%
Jones - 40.7%
Saunders - 37.6%
Johnson - 39.8%
Alexander - 42.4%
Adkins - 44%
Sherwood - 42.9%

For me, the three I'd opt for (personal preference only, nothing more) would be Kenny Jackett, Graham Alexander or Nigel Adkins.

Venus - 100%

On a serious note isn't his knowledge of players second to none according to mogga?
Might not be the worst appointment if he's up for it.

Not sure about him myself, don't think he'd be too long. Bit of an arse but suppose he's the kind of arse who isn't too bad if he's your own manager (if relatively successful of course). Very surprised to see Curbishley's name amongst the potential candidates, I'd rank him in relatively the same bracket as Mowbray. As others have said, his time out of the dugout may be somewhat of a hindrance. It could have the opposite effect, who knows? As long as it isn't Pressley the others aren't too bad!

Warnock being interviewed by Cardiff and Cotterill at Villa. Curbishley not a bad shout.

No chance of Curbishley. Hes happy in retirement and doing the occasional media work. If he wanted to make a return to football, he wouldn't look twice at this basket case club. He don't need this shit.

It's an awful shout.

Curbs did an astounding job with Charlton so my heart says him but difficult to say how his time out of the game may impact on his abilities

Sky bet has taken the odds down and only betvictor are taking bets with Venus as favourite. Is MV a done deal?

For the first time the CCFC website has described MV as 'caretaker manager'.

http://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/article/...coventry-northampton-checkatrade-3345953.aspx

MV may not be a done deal.

Yes, in fact from reading that article I'd say they are recruiting and that MV is not in charge on a permanent basis. Whether or not he applies / is appointed is a different matter of course.

Trust our club to not even make it clear whether we have a manager at the moment or not. We're more disorganised than UKIP and that's saying something!!!

The club hadn't made clear that MV was caretaker. Before the most recent article on it's website the information the club had released might be interpreted in a couple of different ways.

CT saying betting suspended.
Betting suspended
We’re hearing that at least one bookie has suspended betting on who is set to take the top job.

We’ll be updating you on all the latest developments as the club appear to move closer to making an appointment.

On managerial markets at our level one few hundred quid bet could suspend the market. Wouldn't look into it too much.

Fans have to look at when Venus left his role as assistant manager it went downhill. Call it coincidence but says a lot to me. Venus had more input in the team than we gave him credit for imo

Promoting from within has served us well in the past Eric Black did well and then unbelievably sacked for "a high profile manager"we all know how that went. Also John Sillett didn't do a bad job.

But surely that is what hurt Tony Mowbray isn't it?

He said himself he knew nothing of League One and if Curbishley has been out if the game for 6 years then surely he will know nothing of current League One football or players there either.

As Nick says though, maybe he has been scouting and keeping his hand in or something.

Not knowing League One proved problematic for Mowbray.

Im not sure it did to be honest Otis, i think he lost it tacticly at the end. maybe the pressure of all the off field stuff lack of funds etc did him. I mean we were flying last year, then no new players of worth came in and the youngsters tired it unravalled pretty quick. Not that maddison was messi but im sure hat didnt help. No money pre season targers missed and it was a mess. your probably right about Curbs, though i do think a decent manager would work this squad better. The lack of any real money to get good players in though, will always be our downfall whoever we get sadly.
Please god not pressley though!!

Westley no longer available. Not that he'd been mentioned but poor Newport have ended up with him. He'd have been a worse appointment than Evans!
