Thorn was tolerated for 60 games. The board last year had no teeth. Any other club would have sacked someone after a 13 point haul at the halfway stage.

I was only on about this season

It wasn't a defence of Thorn before you shit your panties and jump on me, it was a criticism of the board. It didn't make sense to sack him so quickly and then leave someone else in charge for 5+ games whilst he is doing a worse job. They might as well have left Thorn in charge an gone behind his back for a new appointment to make an immediate replacement

I agree, I would have had no problem if Thorn was sacked at Christmas as we were awful up to that point

Wish they'd just get on with it. As someone on the phone in said they are like Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

Nero would probably do a better job hiring a new manager and he's been dead 2,000 years.

I'd say these are the more 'obvious' candidates who would have applied.

Be interesting to know who the other 40+ candidates were....

Although the band the Thomson Twins were formed of 3 members, i believe they took their name from the Thomson twins of Tintin fame.

They weren't twins - they weren't even related. One was called Thompson and one was called Thomson (without a 'P', as in 'Venezuela')

They were named after Thomson and Thompson the detectives in TinTin.

He's not interested. Probably the reason he hardly sends any of his own coaches for away games and any fans that aren't on the first coach get the clapped out coaches (speaking from experience of the Yeovil game )

Probably does'nt wish to expose his own company to the debt risk of running all of CCFC coaches or maximising returns by by subbing it out.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're already on the 'debt' list

You heard it here first remember!

Whittled to 5.

Then 2.

Name the 5, then name the 2.

Is this their list or your guess at their list?

As Stevo said, was anyone submitting what sounded like serious lists of the nine doing so with any real knowledge or just guessing?

All of them just guessing - hence Paxman's lazily put together list of ex City staff and obvious candidates

I'm glad i'm not in their shoes. Picking the right one out of the names that have been mentioned isn't going to be easy. The only one i could eliminate straight away would be Kevin Blackwell. Steve Staunton was at the game yesterday. I have a bad feeling it's going to be him. I don't think he'd do any better than Richard Shaw.

I'm starting to think maybe wise would give the place enough of a lift to actually kick start people's enthusiasm.

He's also a winner, which helps.

It's so difficult because there are no outstanding candidates

Phew! Thanks for putting my mind at rest. A great player, but too inexperienced to be the next Cov manager.

I love messing with the minds of the foreign tech support guys: "My name is Perry, not Terry. With a ‘P’ as in Pterodactyl."

Your right, they're no outstanding candidates, which is why i'm going to have to backtrack and say that Wise does look a good option. Out of all the candidates i think he's got enough spite to get the team moving in the right direction again. The players obviously can't work on their own initiative.

Wise is only on the SHORT-list because of his height! (Just like his brother Ernie!)

Davies, Dyche, Wise and Wilder all would be good. But obviously McCarthy would be great, Redknapp has gone to help out Bournmouth so who knows?

They were trying to find someone who made Thorn look good - he was it.
