That puts Shaw out of it. He is quite tall. Wise is short, so he should be on the short list.

Although the band the Thomson Twins were formed of 3 members, i believe they took their name from the Thomson twins of Tintin fame.

And it was the original Tintin twins I was alluding too of course, not the squeaky irritating band of the 80's.

I can't see Cotterill applying after what he said following his interview before Boothroyds appointment.

What perplexes me is that we sacked the manager after 3 game, presumably so we don't get cut adrift. Yet we are willing to leave Shaw in charge for 4 games an possibly more when he has just made things worse and cuts us adrift even further.

We needed someone in before today, why don't the club show some initiative an purpose in appointing a new manager quickly instead of leaving it like we have all year

Seriously if we wanted a new manager we might as well have left Thorn in charge for the past few weeks and looked for a new manager behind his back to allow for an immediate appointment instead of all this messing around leaving Shaw in charge

Why is it taking them so long to appoint? As Andy Blaire said on the radio, they could easily have the 9 interviewed tomorrow, or do a first interview, then shorten the list, interview remainder, and then appoint?

Or does it suggest we need to get current employers permission first?

Wish they'd just get on with it. As someone on the phone in said they are like Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

Exactly, the board only tolerated Thorn for 3 games but someone who is doing worse is still in charge for the next few weeks. I thought the idea of doing it so early was to stop us being cut adrift but then the timeframe to appoint a new man basically makes that pointless

Doing it when they did and not having someone lines up has really screwed their plans..........or was this their plan all along?

Thorn was tolerated for 60 games. The board last year had no teeth. Any other club would have sacked someone after a 13 point haul at the halfway stage.

Not strictly true Grendel, I know for a fact that Thorn got wind that his job had been offered to at least two managers last season. Both of whom tipped him off that he'd been approached and wouldnt consider the offer out of respect to Thorn whilst he was in the job. I don't know who they were for sure but my guess having but having put a few bits and pieces together is they were Dave Jones (fairly sure) and Mark Robins (less sure).

But you're right the Board had/has no teeth and were instead found out to be the sneaky schemers that they are. I think it probably explains why they ended up sticking with Thorn over the summer too.
